Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Welcome to our home!

We would love for you to be like an addition to our family, not just as a worker. We want you to feel comfortable to talk with us and we would like to get to know your culture and customs as well as show you ours. I (mom) was an au pair in Chongqing, China when I was 19 years old. I had a wonderful experience and would do it 10x over if I was younger! So I have personal experience of knowing what it’s like to be an au pair and will ensure that you are living comfortably and well taken care of. Our family also likes to go on short trips throughout the year which you would be welcome to come on as well. We look forward to meeting you!

Job Description

The job would be mainly childcare while mom is either in class or attending a birth if she has a client in labor and needs to leave the house during the weekdays. Working hours would be between 7am-5pm (but not the entire time unless it’s a special circumstance) if mom is home, she will take over with the kids unless some work needs to be done such as chores or schoolwork
No housework would be expected of the au pair besides helping tidy up toys after playing with the kids and occasionally helping fold the kids laundry if there’s time for it
After 5pm, dad will be home to take care of the kids and the au pair will have free time to do whatever they’d like, weekends are free as well
Additionally, if the au pair could speak with our kids in their native language that would be wonderful. As avid travelers and language learners ourselves, we would love for our kids to grow up with experience of other cultures and languages as well
