Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear future au pair,

We are a warm and welcoming family looking for a caring and responsible au pair to help us with our two wonderful children — Leon (6 years old) and Nina (4 years old). Both kids attend school during the day, and we are looking for someone who can support us mainly in the afternoons and be part of our daily family life.

Your main responsibilities would be:
• Spending time with Leon and Nina between 16:00 and 19:00 on weekdays — playing with them, helping with snacks, and accompanying them to or from activities when needed.
• Being with the kids during the day if they are unwell and cannot attend school.
• Speaking English with the children — we are especially looking for someone who can help them improve their English through daily interactions.
• If you also speak Spanish, that’s a great bonus!

What we offer:
• A private room in a separate house from our main home, giving you privacy and space.
• Access to the kitchen in that house for your use.
• Occasionally, our friends may stay in the other room of the house, but this is not on a regular basis — most of the time, the space will be all yours.
• You are warmly welcome to join us for dinner during the week, and weekends are yours to enjoy your privacy and explore.

We live in a beautiful village in the Aosta Valley — a peaceful and slightly remote location surrounded by nature. The school the kids attend is just a 10-minute drive away, and the nearby town of Châtillon (10 minutes walking) has bus connections to other areas in the region.

Alexandra (the mother) works 100% remotely and is home most of the time, so you’ll never feel alone — we’re happy to support you if you ever have any questions or need help.

Since your time with the children will be mainly in the afternoons, this role is perfect if you’re also studying or working online — we have reliable Wi-Fi and a quiet space.

We’re looking for someone kind, responsible, and joyful who loves spending time with kids and would like to be part of a friendly, respectful household. If this sounds like a good match for you, we’d love to hear from you!

Job Description

As our au pair, your main role will be to help us care for Leon and Nina in the afternoons during the weekdays, from around 16:00 to 19:00. During this time, we’d love for you to:
• Spend quality time with the kids — playing, reading, chatting (most importantly in English), or doing creative activities
• Help with light tasks like preparing a snack or getting ready for an activity
• Accompany them to or from nearby activities, when needed. Another adult will be with you to drive if needed.
• Occasionally care for them during the day if they are home sick from school

We’re not expecting any housework — just a kind and responsible presence for our children. Your English will help them grow confident in the language through play and everyday interaction.

You’ll be responsible for your lunches (kinds are at school) and well offer you dinner during the weekdays. You’re welcome to enjoy your free time during the weekends.

Outside of these hours, you’ll have plenty of free time to relax, explore the beauty of the mountain area or nearby cities, or even study or work online — we have reliable Wi-Fi and respect your privacy.

Your Accommodation

You will have your own private room in a separate house just a short walk from our main home. This will give you space, comfort, and privacy during your stay with us.

The house has:
• A fully equipped kitchen that you are welcome to use for your meals
• A private bedroom just for you
• A second bedroom, which may occasionally host visiting friends or family — but this will be rare, so most of the time you’ll have the house entirely to yourself

During the weekdays, you’re warmly invited to join us for dinner if you wish, and on the weekends, you’ll have full privacy to rest, study, or explore the area.

The house is located in a peaceful, natural setting in the Aosta Valley, with easy access to the nearby towns of Châtillon (10-minute walk) and Saint-Vincent (10-minute drive).
