Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear Au Pair,

Thank you for checking out our family as a potential host family. Let us introduce ourselves thoroughly, so that you can decide if you want to get to know us better and consider living with us for a year.
We are a family of four, looking for a loving au pair to help us raise our two wonderful daughters.
Both of our daughters are born in Beijing in a very international environment. They are used to having a Nanny (Ayi) at home and love their current ayi as one of our own family.
Now after 7 years of living and working in China its finally time for us to move back to Germany into our newly build house and start hour lives there.
We would welcome your help, to start in a new neighborhood with lovely neighbors.
If you choose to come work for us, we can offer a loving and understanding family, many different languages and a cosy home in a suburb close to Stuttgart.

Job Description

If you come work for us, your main job will be to help us take care of our two daughters. We don't yet fully know the work schedule we are going to have and how much working from home is possible, so we would like you to help us take good care of our daughters. This means first of all playing with them and trying to prevent (as much as possible) them from hurting themselves. We don't expect you to keep them away from all risks, as we encourage them to make their own experiences. Your main job will be to make sure its a relatively safe environment (no cars driving near, no sharp knives laying near them and the like).
Before going to bed, we would like you to help them tidy up their rooms (supervising them). We want you to use Chinese with them, when you are alone, so that they have a chance to further learn Chinese. The main language in the family is German though.
If its possible we would like you to bring them to kindergarden and bring them home afterwards.
We don't expect you to clean (except keeping your room tidy) and we don't expect you to cook for us, although if you like to cook some chinese food, we are always welcoming it, since we will miss it for sure. Since we have lived in China with an ayi for such a long time, we know what kind of tools are required for chinese cooking and will provide them.

Because our daughters have not grown up in Germany, but in China, we will also want to show them the beautiful parts of Germany and of course you are welcome to accompany us.
On some weekends we will want to visit our family, who live 300km away, so you will have the house for yourself from time to time as well.

Our best case scenario would be, that you would start your Au Pair time with us in Beijing in June 2025, which is the last month we are living in Beijing and then come with us to Germany. That way you would get to know the family already and our kids would get to know and trust you. Additionally you could get some first hand tipps from our Ayi who has raised them with us for their entire live.

Accommodation

Our house is a 200sqm house with 4 floors (Basement, Ground floor, Uppor Floor, Attic) in a quiet street close to the suburbs main street. Your room will be a 17sqm room on the upper floor with queensized bed (1.8m), desk, big closet and some shelves. The room has a big window in north direction with electrical window blinds and individual floor heating. We don't have pictures yet as the house was just finished in construction and we will freshly furnish the room for you. But if we get in touch to speak about the details we can tell you our plans and show you the current pictures. If you want to bring in your ideas we will also consider them.
You will live on the same floor like our two daughters and will have a bathroom which is mainly used by you and the kids. The bathroom has a big shower (90cm x 90cm) and a bathtub (180cm x 80cm). The parents will live in the attic with their own bathroom. The house has a third toilette in the ground level.

You have access to the new modern kitchen with all the required tools for comfortable cooking as well as plenty of space in refrigerator and icebox.

For transportation we plan on having 1-2 Mercedes cars as well as E-Bikes. We can also arrange for public transportation as well.

If you need to store a lot of luggage, that is no problem, as we have ample space in the house.

If you feel homesick for China, please know that in our immediate neighborhood we have 3 more chinese families we are friends with, so we will have "chinese get togethers" quite regularly.
