Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello, my four year old son Theo and I live together with our old dog Kona. In April 2024 we lost our and father Ivar. We are keeping our chins up and staying positive.

We live in a small three bedroom space on a farm. We are also surrounded by other farms where you can see horses, cows, chickens and sheep. We are also in the middle of many produce farms which include root vegetables, corn, lots of berries and next door is a fully organic farm with a road stand.

We are about 10 minutes from our small town/village where there is public transportation which can connect you to most of Vancouvers lower mainland. We don’t have access to public transportation directly from our home though.

With my work schedule being shift work and my son potentially staying in daycare, I feel this position would be a great opportunity to live in Vancouvers lower mainland and have lots of time to explore. Because I have four days off in a row this would allow you to plan and explore further into our province as well as consider crossing the USA/Canada border which is 20 minutes away.

Job Description

Because I work shift work my requirements are a bit different than a normal Monday to Friday job.

I work for four mornings, four evenings and then I have four days off.

When I work mornings I leave the house at 5:30am and return home at 3pm.

When I work evenings I leave the house at 1:30pm and return between 11pm and 12am. Usually it’s closer to 11pm though.

When I have my days off I like to spend my time with Theo but can also need care from time to time. Theo also spends time with his grandparents for sleepovers sometimes.

I’m looking for someone who would want to take on full responsibilities with Theo and I will pay accordingly. If you prefer to share responsibilities with his current daycare, I can keep him there Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and the pay will be adjusted. I’m open to both options.
