Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

I am exploring the option of having an au pair to assist with the care needs for my wife. I am a physician, my wife is a retired nurse. I am still actively working in an administrative position that allows me to work from home. My wife has had gradually worsening dementia for the past 6 years. She requires assistance with toileting, eating meals, and walking. I currently have help during the weekdays, but on nights and weekends I provide the care myself.

I live in a suburb north of Charlotte NC, about 45-60 minutes from downtown Charlotte.

Job Description

I am looking for someone with an interest in health care, ideally with some health care experience, but certainly with an interest to learn. Someone who aspires to a nursing career, or has a nursing background would be ideal. You would need to assist with bathing, toileting, and feeding tasks. Walks in the neighborhood using a wheelchair. Shopping for groceries or doing errands. Ability to drive with a US drivers license would be a plus. Meal prep would also be a plus. I currently prepare all the meals. Assistance with house keeping, laundry, etc. would be needed.

There is a good sized private bedroom on the second floor of the house with an attached private bath. My wife and I have a bedroom and bath on the first floor. I have my work office in a separate room on the second floor. There is hi speed internet access and wifi for the house, as well as TV and phone access in the bedroom.
