Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello!
We live in Diamond Illinois which is a little over an hour south of Chicago. We just moved to the area, but my husband is from Illinois, and I am from Texas. We live on a little over 12 acres which gives our 4 dogs enough room to run around and enjoy themselves. There is a train station about 15 minutes from our house, but we would be providing a car for you to get around in!

Welcome to our family! We are thrilled to have you join us on this journey and are so excited to get to know you. We hope this letter helps you feel a little more familiar with us and gives you an idea of what life in our home will be like.

Our family is made up of Zach (31), Erica (31), Sarah (13), Wyatt (7), and Madilyn (2).

Job Description

My husband and I both work in the nuclear field, but our schedules differ significantly. His role is more demanding, requiring him to work 12-hour shifts, including nights. My job, on the other hand, follows a more traditional schedule, except during outage season, when I work 12-hour days for 3-4 weeks a year.

You wouldn’t typically need to work weekends, though we may occasionally request help for a date night. If that happens, we’d coordinate with you to ensure it fits your schedule.

When you first join us, our two-year-old will remain in daycare for a few weeks to ease the transition and help everyone acclimate to the new routine. She's not fond of big changes, so we feel having everyone settle in gradually will help her adjust to having a new caregiver in her life.

We're seeking someone to help with the morning school run for our two older children and care for our two-year-old during the day until we return home. Our eldest is also considering joining her school volleyball team, so she may need transportation to and from practices during the week.

With my husband’s shift work, his schedule can vary. While he often works odd hours, he also has days off in between shifts, allowing him to step in and help with childcare when possible.
