Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear Au Pair,

We are looking for someone to start on 20th Oct, 2025, and preferably stay for at least 3 months.

We are looking for an energetic, responsible au pair with a valid driving license to help care for my daughter and become part of our family. We hope to find someone who can stay long-term and truly enjoy the experience.

Our home is in Raheny, Dublin 5, right beside the beautiful Saint Anne’s Park. It’s a three-bedroom end-of-terrace house, offering a comfortable and welcoming environment.

You will have your own double room, featuring a large window facing the back garden. The house is well connected—there’s a bus stop just 120 meters away, with a 20-minute ride to the city center. The DART (light rail) station is an 8-minute walk away, providing a 15-minute direct ride to the city center.

We look forward to welcoming you into our home!

Job Description

My goal is to find an au pair who can be like a big sister to my daughter—someone who will have fun with her, engage in activities, and be a supportive presence when I am busy. I also need someone who can help around the house, allowing me to spend more quality time with my daughter and focus on my business. Additionally, I want the peace of mind of knowing that my daughter is safe and well cared for when I am not at home.

Who We Are Looking For:

We have hosted au pairs since 2022, and while I prefer someone with previous au pair experience, it is not mandatory.
The ideal au pair should be:
✅ Responsible, open-minded, and eager to integrate into the host family
✅ Willing to communicate, adapt, and take initiative and ownership of running the household
✅ Enjoys spending time with children and engaging in different activities
✅ Holds a valid, clean driving license
✅ Not a vegetarian or vegan
✅ Disciplined and good at timekeeping (to ensure my daughter is not late for school and activities)

Daily Routine & Responsibilities

I will describe how things currently work in our home, but I am open to discussing and adjusting the routine as needed.

Morning Routine:

I wake up at 7:30 AM, get my daughter dressed, and help her wash up.
Meanwhile, the au pair prepares breakfast and her snack box.
We have breakfast together, and at 8:30 AM, the au pair drops her off at school (5-minute drive).

Daytime (After School Drop-Off):

If needed, the au pair does the grocery shopping for the household.
She tidies up all rooms, including the kitchen and bathroom (this usually takes about an hour if done daily).
Laundry is done once a week.
House chores apply to the whole house, not just my daughter’s room.
Our home is not large, and only two of us live here, so house chores are manageable.
I am very grateful for our au pair’s help, as it allows me to focus on work and spend more time with my daughter. I have also been told that the household tasks are no more than what an au pair would typically do in other host families.
The rest of the day is free for the aupair until school pick up time.

Afternoon & Evening Routine:

5:00 PM: The au pair picks my daughter up from school (5-minute drive).
Homework & Activities: My daughter spends about 15 minutes on homework with me when she gets home.
Playtime: After homework, she has free playtime with the au pair.

Dinner:

I cook when I can because I want my daughter to have regular Chinese meals.
If the au pair is cooking, I spend this time playing with my daughter instead.
7:30 PM: Dinner finishes. My daughter gets ready for bed while the au pair tidies up the dinner table and loads the dishwasher.
8:00 PM: My daughter goes to sleep, and the rest of the evening is free.

Weekly Schedule:

Tuesdays: I go rock climbing at 7:30 PM. We either adjust our schedule earlier or the au pair handles bedtime that night.
Thursdays: My daughter has singing and swimming lessons in the afternoon. The au pair picks her up at 3:30 PM, takes her to singing, and then brings her home after swimming at 6:00 PM.

Weekends:

We rarely cook at home—it’s either restaurants or delivery.
My daughter has several activities on Saturdays, and if I am unavailable, the au pair takes her to the planned activities and brings her back.
Sundays are the au pair’s day off, but she is welcome to join us if she is interested.

Holidays & Travel:
Traveling as a single parent with a young child used to be challenging, but with our au pair’s help, it has become much easier and more enjoyable.
In 2023, we traveled to London, Belfast, Galway, Cork, and Longford.
The au pair is always welcome to join our trips, but participation is not mandatory.

Additional Notes:

My daughter is in school from 8:40 AM to 5:30 PM, so I want to spend quality time with her when she is home.
I do not want an au pair who will take my daughter away from me during our family time.
If the au pair has childcare experience and can introduce new activities or hobbies, it would be a great bonus, but it is not required.
I prefer not to micro-manage the au pair. I want someone who will take initiative and ownership, run the household as their own, and understand what needs to be done without being told.
The house chores are not limited to my daughter's room but cover the entire house.

What We Offer:
The au pair will have plenty of free time during the day and most evenings.
We also offer many opportunities to:
? Explore Ireland and Europe
? Attend festivals and cultural events
?️ Enjoy great restaurants
?️ Join exciting activities and trips

Time Off & Benefits:

Wednesdays & Sundays are off.
One paid holiday per month.
