Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear Au Pair, we are excited to meet you!

We are Patricia and Omar with our two children Adrian (2.5 years) and Diana (6 months). We have lived in Zurich for many years and recently moved to a nice and spacious house with a large garden in Egg, a small town nearby. We really enjoy living here as we are very close to nature but at the same time it's not far to downtown Zurich.

We are looking for a reliable, loving, and responsible Au Pair who can help us in our daily routines with our two small children and become a part of our family. Your main tasks will include assisting with childcare, accompanying the children to activities, and helping with light household chores such as washing and putting away the children’s laundry. It is important to us that you not only take care of tasks but also enjoy spending time with the kids and sharing fun moments with them.

As a family, we place great value on communication and mutual respect. We love spending time together, whether it’s sharing family meals, going on outings, or simply having a movie night at home. We hope you will feel at home with us and that you bring as much joy to our family as we will to yours.

We offer you your own room, a private bathroom, meals, a monthly salary, and a language course. You will live in a warm and friendly environment, with the opportunity to learn about our culture and language. You will also have plenty of free time to explore the area and make new friends.

We are looking forward to meeting you soon and hope that you will become a valuable part of our family!

Warm regards,
Patricia and Family

Job Description

Expectations for the Au Pair
We expect our Au Pair to be a responsible, friendly, and reliable person who supports our family with commitment and a positive attitude. It is important to us that you have a genuine interest in working with children and enjoy being part of our family life. We would like you to maintain open and respectful communication and feel as comfortable with us as we hope to feel with you.

We are looking for someone who is reliable and punctual, but also flexible and empathetic, able to meet the diverse needs of our children. You should be willing to embrace new experiences and actively engage in our family’s daily life. While respecting our values and rules, you will also have the freedom to feel at home in our household.

Duties of the Au Pair
Childcare:
The main responsibility of the Au Pair is the loving care of our two children. You will help us organize the daily routine with the children, care for them, and support their development for about 30 hours per week. Your tasks include:

Playing and creative activities: You will help the children get creative – for example, through painting, crafting, or singing. Outdoor activities such as walks, small outings, or visits to the playground are also part of the job.
Supporting development: You will assist the children with simple learning activities, such as reading to them, playing, or discovering new things that spark their curiosity.

Daily routines: You will help with tasks such as taking the children to and from daycare, washing them, getting them dressed, putting them to bed, and feeding them.

In addition to childcare, we expect you to help with light household tasks related to the children, such as:
Unloading the dishwasher
Tidying up the children’s rooms and picking up toys
Preparing snacks or simple meals for the children
Assisting with washing and sorting the children’s clothes
Accompanying on outings:
Occasionally, you will also help with outings, whether to a park, a museum, or other activities that are exciting and educational for the children.

In summary: We are looking for someone who not only takes responsibility and helps with our daily routines but also actively contributes to the development and well-being of our children. Your role as an Au Pair is not just a job position but also an opportunity to become part of our family, spend time together, and learn about Swiss culture.

Accommodation

We live in a large house, where you would have your own spacious, fully furnished room and a bathroom just next door. Your room is on a different floor from the living room and the kids rooms so you can have some privacy when not "on the job".

We live in the small town of Egg, near Zurich (Switzerland), which is well connected to the city of Zurich. The basic shops are available in Egg and nearby, otherwise Zurich is not far. Egg is also very close to the Greifensee and Zürichsee lakes which offer fantastic views and opportunities for all kinds of watersports and other sports, especially in summer. Overall, our region, the canton of Zurich, is very lively and international, offering opportunities for all kinds of hobbies, so nothing is left to be desired. We’d be happy to help you and show you around Egg and Zurich.
