Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello future big sister! Below is a little about us and we hope you find it useful. We look forward to getting to know you and answering any questions you have once your review the information.

☀️ We are an experienced Host Family Seeking an experienced Au Pair

We're a family of four living in remote Exmouth, Western Australia, near the stunning Ningaloo Reef. We have two boys, Hugo (nearly 3 years old) and Mak (10 months) and a lovely older dog, Mana.

We run a tourism business called Live Ningaloo and we are expanding. I (Mum) work part-time from home, focusing on strategy, special projects, and marketing, while my partner, Murray, works full-time in the business.

We’re looking for an extra set of hands to be part of our family who has experience with young kids and can balance both of their needs at one time. Mak is breastfed on demand and occasionally bottle-fed. I'll never be far away but a few blocks of time away from the kids each day is necessary for me to get done what I need to support our family (both in the home and for our business).

We love spending time together, enjoying good homemade food, and soaking up daily adventures at the kids' pace. Hugo is a mechanically minded, adventure-loving kiddo who is fun to look after. Mak is a typical baby who loves attention and being held.

☀️ Location
We live in rural Exmouth, Western Australia, famous for the Ningaloo Reef. It's a 14-hour drive or a 1.5-2.5 hour flight north of Perth.

❌ This is not a role for city lovers. We live in the outback, in a charming town where locals know everyone. It’s rural, remote living, and we will cover more about what this feels like day-to-day in the interview. It’s a special place but very much a country town far away from the busy city.

Job Description

Your Role & Duties
☀️ Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00am - 11:00am, 2:30pm - 5:30pm - hours may change an hour earlier or later on either side based on activities and business needs but this is the rough schedule.
☀️ Engaging Hugo in activities without a screen / TV (library, aquarium, playground, beach, park, sensory play, pool, etc.) and in general being a loving caregiver.
☀️ Assisting with Mak (nappies, bottle feeding, food feeding, age-related stimulus, sanitising breast pump materials and prep for baby led weaning food). Sometimes I need to put Hugo to bed or he prefers to spend time with me and you can expect to switch with kids a significant amount of the time. You will also take Hugo and Mak together on outings and also keep them occupied at our home when the timing is right (Mak isn't too tired or needing a breast feed for example). We will spend time together tackling the kids and night time routine / cooking / feeding / cleaning up.
☀️ You will need to be able to take both children at one time on outings or for engaging play at home.
☀️ Light housekeeping (Common area daily clean, tidying, kid clothes washing, etc.). We have a cleaner that comes x1 per week – I don’t expect you to be our cleaner but I do expect the daily clean and tidy to be maintained. I do this also, just need a teammate as little kids make for a messy house.
☀️ Prepping sensory play / crafts - I have tools to make this easy, just need items ready to go for when I have the kids: making home made play dough for example, super simple easy things.
☀️ Family meal x1-2 times per week - we love food and would welcome this to be part of the cultural experience.
☀️ Opportunities for extra babysitting - date nights and business engagements after hours on occasion.

Requirements
☀️ Conversational English
☀️ Love for children, patient, kind, caring, responsible, and organised
☀️ Mature, positive attitude
☀️ Go-getter who takes initiative
☀️ Ability to drive an automatic car
☀️ Working with Children's Check completed
☀️ First aid trained and up to date
☀️ Experience with infants and young children
☀️ Approved working holiday visa - we are unable to sponsor your visa or your flights to us
☀️ Female only, mature, must have previous au pair experience with young children
☀️ Non-smoker
