Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello!

We are delighted to welcome you to our home in Flic-en-Flac, located on the picturesque West side of Mauritius. As you might already know, Mauritius is a gem of an island, rich in cultural diversity and natural beauty. Being fairly small, the island allows you to explore its wonders with ease – you can reach the other side of the island within an hour's drive, so everything is wonderfully close!

As our new Au Pair, you will become an integral part of our family. We hope to make your stay with us not just a job, but an enriching cultural exchange and a memorable experience. Our family consists of dad (John), mum, and our two kids (4 years old & 2 years old). We are excited for you to meet them and become a part of their daily lives.

Your primary role will be to assist us with childcare, including collecting the kids from school, helping with looking after them on public holidays, Saturday mornings and evenings. We also look forward to learning about your culture and sharing ours with you. Mauritius is a melting pot of cultures, and Flic-en-Flac is a perfect representation of this diversity, with its beautiful beaches, vibrant markets, and friendly locals.

In your free time, we encourage you to explore the island. From the breathtaking beaches to the lush mountains, there's so much to see and do. We are more than happy to provide recommendations on places to visit and activities to enjoy.

As for your living arrangements, you will have your own bedroom and bathroom. We want you to feel comfortable and at home here.

Before your arrival, please let us know if there's anything specific you need or if you have any concerns. We believe open communication is key to a successful and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Job Description

As our Au Pair, your primary role will be to provide care and supervision for our children, especially when their school is closed due to public holidays or the frequent rainfalls we experience in Mauritius. On days when the children are at nursery, we would greatly appreciate your help with some light cooking and light cleaning tasks. Please note that we already have a cleaner who does this currently, so these duties would not be extensive.

In addition to these responsibilities, we would need your assistance on Saturday mornings, which will give us some much-needed personal time. Also, we occasionally have social commitments in the evenings. During these times, we would rely on you to look after the children, ensuring they are safe, engaged, and following their usual routines.

We understand that this role requires flexibility and adaptability, given the unpredictable nature of school closures and our occasional social commitments. We value open communication and will always strive to provide you with a schedule in advance whenever possible.

We are also keen on creating a supportive and enjoyable environment for you. While the role does involve these responsibilities, we also want to ensure you have enough personal time to explore Mauritius and engage in activities you enjoy

As part of our family, you will have your own private space on the upper floor of our home. This includes a comfortable bedroom and a dedicated bathroom exclusively for your use. We believe having your own space is important for both privacy and relaxation.

The bedroom is well-equipped with all the essentials you might need for a comfortable stay. It's a cozy and well-lit space, designed to be a peaceful retreat for you after a day's work. The bathroom is modern and maintained to a high standard, ensuring your comfort and convenience.

Our home is equipped with Wifi throughout, so you'll have uninterrupted access to the internet. This should help you stay connected with your friends and family, as well as enjoy your leisure time online.

It's important to note that our home is a bit distant from the nearest bus stop. However, we understand the importance of easy transportation and are more than willing to discuss and arrange suitable transportation solutions for your days off, or when you need to go out. We want to make sure that your mobility isn't hindered and that you have ample opportunity to explore the beautiful surroundings of Mauritius at your leisure.
