Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

From the family's flat it's just 300 m to the city center of Freiburg, the adult education center (Volkshochschule) is nearby. The Au pair will live in a separated flat a little bit outside of the city center, but public transportation (tram and buses) is running on regular intervals till midnight.

Job Description

The tasks of the au pair: attendance of children at home (including personal hygiene), having lunch with the children, picking up the children from school, accompanying the children to afternoon sessions (music school, sports club etc.) tidying up and cursory cleaning of the children's rooms. The Au pair has not to cook or to clean the family's flat or to do the laundry etc.

We attach great importance to the education of the children, therefore the use of TV and digital devices is strictly limited. The Au pair is expected to support these efforts, therefore use of smartphones, tablets and computers during working time is not allowed.

The au pair's hours of duty will be organised in such a way as, to allow her to follow courses, and to improve her general cultural development and knowledge of the language. Working time about 30 hrs/week, normally on weekdays in the afternoon and Friday evening. The au pair will have 2 free days per week and 2 days off per month for holiday.

In the event of the Au pair's falling ill, the host will continue to provide board and lodging and will give all appropriate care until such time as necessary arrangements have been made.

The Au pair will live in a separated appartment with fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. The next tram station is in a distance of 300 m, the tram runs less than 10 minutes to the city center. The Au pair gets a monthly ticket for public transportation which is valid in the entire district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald, on weekends and during public school holidays its all day long also valid i the neighbouring districts of Ortenau, Schwarzwald-Baar, Lörrach and Waldshut-Tiengen. The Au pair gets also a bicycle for personal use.
