Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

We, Anja & Giotto, are a young Christian couple living in Freising, a larger town close to Munich, who are expecting their first child in August 2024 (by God's grace). Anja (32) is a finance director in the healthcare sector. Giotto (35) is a corporate/finance lawyer. We are practising Catholicism and enjoy weekly masses mostly with the Dominicans. Also, we go on yearly pilgrimages to Lourdes as caretakers for handicapped children with the Order of Malta. Faith is an integral part of our everyday life and we intend to raise our children accordingly.

We are excited to welcome an au pair to our family in March 2025 as Anja would like to go back to working after 6 months. We are greatly looking forward to showing you the German way of living and receiving your input from a different cultural background.

Our home is in Freising old town. Freising is a picturesque baroque city and a former episcopal See. Freising is a very young city full of families and students. It has a university, a hospital, the oldest brewery and beer garden in Germany, green pastures along the Isar River, where you can enjoy the sun, and many cafes (formidable Gelato) and restaurants. We are living in direct vicinity to the hill where the cathedral thrones and dominates the surroundings. From our place, you can reach Munich within 45 minutes by train. You can walk to everything else (e.g., language courses, doctors, shopping except high street brands, groceries) within 5-10 minutes.

Job Description

You would be a perfect match if you are an outgoing and well-organised person who acts independently and takes responsibility. We would like you to be a role model to our child - especially when it comes to the Christian faith.

We would be grateful if you could take care of our child every Monday to Thursday in the morning and the early afternoon and every Sunday evening after mass and family brunch. Your Fridays and all evenings other than Sunday would be generally free. Your specific tasks would be assisting with the child's early education (i.e., could you speak English to it, could you fool around with it on the piano?), accompanying us on our family outings and occasionally helping with minor household chores (we have hired a lady as domestic help).

We will pay for your German language course and give you an allowance of €280/month.
