Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

We are so excited to welcome you into our family and our home! We hope you will feel comfortable, happy, and truly part of our family during your time with us here in Gothenburg.

As you already know, we are a lively family of six (plus two cats!) with four children, ranging from a baby to teenagers. Life in our house is full of energy, laughter, and activity, and we can’t wait for you to join in.

Your role will be an important one—helping with our two youngest children, supporting the family during busy days, and bringing your own energy and warmth into our home. We are confident that with your help, we will be able to balance our work and family life while ensuring that everyone feels cared for and supported.

You will have your own private space in our house, with access to everything you need, including a cozy room with a great view, free WiFi, and even one of our cars when needed. We hope you’ll take the opportunity to enjoy everything our home and Gothenburg have to offer—whether it’s exploring the city, spending time in our garden or at the community allotment, or relaxing in the common areas of the house.

We love to cook (and eat!) and enjoy sharing family meals, especially when we can grill outdoors. Even though our schedule can be busy, we always make sure to plan ahead and communicate clearly so that everyone knows what’s coming.

Most importantly, we are here to support you and make sure you feel at home. Please feel free to ask questions, share your thoughts, and let us know how we can make your experience enjoyable and fulfilling.

Job Description

We are looking for a caring and reliable au pair to join our family and help make our everyday life run smoothly. Your main responsibility will be to care for our youngest children—a toddler and a soon-to-be 4-year-old—while also providing occasional support to our older kids when needed.

A typical day might look like this:

Start the morning by having breakfast with the family and helping with the morning routine.

Drop the younger children off at preschool.

During the day, you’ll have time to do light household tasks (like laundry, tidying up, or simple meal prep) but with plenty of free time to study, relax, or explore the city.

Around 3 PM, you’ll pick up the younger children from preschool and take care of them until about 6 PM, when we usually have dinner together as a family.

Occasionally, we may ask for help in the evenings or on weekends, but we always plan the schedule carefully in advance to make sure the workload is balanced and respects your personal time.

We believe in clear planning and open communication, so you’ll always know what to expect for the week ahead.

Accommodation

You’ll have your own private room on a separate floor, sharing a bathroom with one of the teenagers in the family. The room is fully equipped with everything you need and offers a stunning view over the city.

Our house is 210 square meters and offers all the amenities you could wish for in a modern home. It includes several communal living spaces, five bedrooms, a cozy living room, a fully equipped kitchen, and plenty of room to relax. You’ll have access to free WiFi and all the facilities you’d expect in a well-appointed, modern household.

The house is centrally located in Gothenburg, close to shops, parks, and public transportation. We also have a small garden, and for those who enjoy gardening, we have access to a community garden plot where you can grow your own vegetables and flowers.

Additionally, you’ll have access to one of our family’s cars when needed, making it easy to explore the city and its surroundings.

As a family, we are not vegetarians and enjoy cooking together, especially grilling in the garden when the weather allows.
