Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hi! We are looking for some temporary help with our 2 year old from anytime in July until mid august (or until the end of august of you prefer!). Our regular childminder will be on holiday and me and my partner both run our own businesses so finding all the time to occupy little people can be hard!

Key points:
- We’re in the countryside – it is very rural here!
- We have animals – no allergy sufferers
- It’s a short stay that starts relatively quickly so we won’t be able to organise complicated visas. EU applicants preferred.

We like the idea of an au pair as it will be a change and an experience for all of us – hopefully you too!

You would be living in our countryside house with us, sharing our daily lives and following our routine, but you will also have time to yourself. The house location really is very rural – there are no buses and trains! We will happily take you to the nearest town a few times a week (about 20 mins by car) if you want to.

Please don’t message us if you want a Paris experience – this is not the right placement. We live quiet, countryside lives!
But the town does have shopping, restaurants, a cinema, and even some nightclubs (I’m told!) and we know a few “young” people who could show you around ?.

Job Description

So your role? Basically to fill in the childcare gaps and help out a bit with some of the household jobs. In exchange we hope to make you feel welcome in our little family for the time that you are with us. We are respectful of food preferences and will do our best to get things that you like.

You’ll need to have a basic grasp of either French or English for safety.

We imagine you doing some childcare during the week between 9am and midday, and some in the afternoon. And it would be heaven for us if you could get up with the little one on a Saturday morning so we can have a lay in! Saturday afternoon and Sundays would be your own time entirely - we can drop you in town if you want to or you can enjoy the peace of the countryside, or some lazy time with Netflix.

When you're not "on duty" you can choose whether you prefer to do your own thing, but you are very welcome to spend time with us too and visit the french family etc!

Please note we are having a short holiday at the end of July by the sea - which you are of course invited to! We've rented a nice holiday home and will be in walking distance to shops and restaurants. We will ask you to stay in for one or two nights so me and my partner can go to dinner.

Accommodation

Your accommodation: Your bedroom has a window overlooking the courtyard and the stables. It has a double bed, a desk and office chair, drawers, a big TV+Netflix/Prime and we can add a wardrobe if you need one. There is a shared bathroom. We have lots of space in the house so you can have some quiet time too.

The rest of the house: 4 bedrooms in total, an office, living room, kitchen, downstairs bathroom, downstairs toilet, upstairs toilet, laundry (and cat) room, a big garden and a field for the ponies.
