Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear au pair,

We are looking for a cheerful and reliable au pair (male or female) for our four boys, starting September 2025.
We hope to give you a wonderful au pair experience while being included in our family life, getting to know a foreign country, the German culture and improving your language skills :-)

Job Description

We look forward to assistance with our daily family activities, mainly involving the kids and smaller household chores. Your daily tasks will comprise for example:
- setting the table for breakfast at 6:45 am, preparing the lunchboxes for the kids
- free time from 7.30 am till 1 or 2 pm
- fetching the youngest boy from kindergarten
- accompanying the boys to afternoon activities
- supervising some of them at home/in the garden/on the playground
- setting the table for dinner at 6.30
- free time in the evenings (after 7/7.30 pm) and on the weekends
You will not be alone with all four boys for any of these tasks as Anne is also at home during the afternoons. It is more of a sharing of the supervision and household duties :-).

We are a strict non-smoking household and expect the same from our au pair.
Eating wise you can choose: David and the kids like eating meat, but Anne prefers living vegetarian. We don’t own a pet. The grandparents who like to visit have a dog.

We pay 350 euros per month plus insurance as well as a language course fee (50,-) plus ticket for public transportation.
The last two au pairs had enrolled themselves as a guest student at Kiel university as well as language courses for Erasmus students, a good opportunity to join the Erasmus community and make friends. Accommodation

We live in a house in Gettorf with a big garden.
The Aupair-room is located in the basement but has daylight from several windows. It is accessible both through the house and a separate entrance, WiFi in the bedroom is available. There is a guest bathroom with a shower and WC.

Gettorf is a little town with 8000 inhabitants. You will find all necessary shops there, as well as sports clubs, riding farms and a lovely surrounding countryside for cycling. It is 10 km afar from the Baltic sea (swimming, surfing or sailing opportunities). The nearest biggest town is Kiel (20 km), the capital of the Schleswig-Holstein region which is a university town with a lot to offer regarding culture, sporting events or leisure time. Kiel can be reached by a regional train running every half hour which takes about 20 minutes.
