Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello! My name is Daphne, and I have an open position for an Au Pair with our family.
I'm a solo mom of a sweet, intelligent, playful boy of 15 months named Zander.

We live in a small town called Grass Valley in California.
The location is in a historical town, in a mountain and forest environment.
You can walk from the house to cafes, grocery stores, and hiking trails.

It is a unique environment as a community property of artists and creative people.
Seven adults live on the land in three different homes.
We live in the main house.
In addition to my son and I, we share the main house with two other adult friends and a 2-year-old boy.

Job Description

Daily Tasks Include:

Providing attentive and loving care for a one-year-old, including feeding, walks in the woods, and nap time.

Preparing healthy meals and snacks appropriate for a toddler.

Engaging in age-appropriate activities such as reading, playing games, outdoor walks, and taking him to playgroups, playdates, and activities.

Maintaining a tidy and child-friendly environment, including cleaning up after meals and playtime and keeping the child's play areas organized.

Assisting with light household tasks related to the child (e.g., laundry, keeping the kitchen tidy).

Daily Life with Us:

You will have a structured yet flexible schedule that balances childcare with personal time.

You can join us in family activities and are encouraged to explore the local community.

Your workdays will be spent creating fun and enriching experiences for our one-year-old while also ensuring their comfort and safety.

We value open communication and aim to provide a warm, inclusive atmosphere for our au pair.

Requirements:

Previous experience caring for young children, preferably as an au pair or in a similar childcare role.

A genuine love for children and a passion for supporting their growth and development.

Responsible, reliable, calm, and organized with a proactive task approach.

Basic first aid knowledge and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

Willingness to assist with light household tasks related to childcare.

Good communication skills and a desire to be part of a warm and inclusive family environment.

Experienced and comfortable driving a car. You can use our minivan to take him to playdates and activities.

Ideally able to swim, as we are teaching him swimming now.
