Welcome Letter to the Au Pair
Dear Future Au Pair,
Welcome! We’re so excited to connect with someone who shares our love for cultural exchange, nurturing young minds, and embracing the joys of family life. As you consider joining our household, we want to give you a glimpse into who we are, what we value, and how we hope to grow together.
Our Family: Warm, Chill, and Globally Curious
We’re a family of three (plus one furry member!) living in the beautiful city of Hangzhou. My husband and I are both professionals in the tech industry—he works in artificial intelligence, and I specialize in business analytics and management . We met years ago while diving in Thailand, and our shared passion for travel, learning, and innovation has shaped how we approach life and parenting. Our greatest adventure so far? Raising our cheerful, curious 2-year-old son, who loves singing, building towers, and exploring nature. Rounding out our crew is our gentle 5-year-old rescued dog, a loyal companion who adores leisurely walks and nap time.
Our home thrives on love, laughter, and mutual respect. Weekends might involve picnics by the lake, experimenting with new recipes (we’re still mastering dumplings!), or simply relaxing with a movie. We’re “chill” by nature—life with a toddler keeps us busy, but we prioritize balance, open communication, and finding joy in small moments.
Our Home: Nature Meets City Life
We live in a quiet, green neighborhood nestled beside Hangzhou’s famous Xixi Wetland Park. Imagine waking up to birdsong and having endless trails for morning strolls—yet still being just a short walk from the metro and buses that connect you to the city’s vibrant heart. Your space here will include a spacious private bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, designed to be your cozy retreat. There are also multiple great Universities (including Zhejiang University) offering language programs within reasonable public commute .
What We Hope to Share With You
We’re looking for a caring, experienced au pair to join our team! Your primary focus will be caring for our son: engaging him in age-appropriate activities, ensuring his safety, and nurturing his development through play and exploration. We’d love for you to create an English-language environment for him (through songs, stories, or games) and share aspects of your home culture—whether that’s holidays, food, or traditions. Bonus points if you enjoy outdoor adventures, as we’d love for our son to grow up appreciating nature!
What We Offer You
A supportive, respectful environment where you’ll be treated as family.
Flexibility to explore Hangzhou and nearby cities (Shanghai is just an hour by train!).
Opportunities to share your culture and language—we’ll happily swap lessons!
A private, comfortable living space to recharge.
Guidance navigating life in China, if it’s your first time here.
Who You Are
Experienced with toddlers (certification in childcare/early education is a plus!).
Patient, creative, and genuinely passionate about working with young children.
Fluent in English; additional languages are welcome!
Excited to embrace cultural exchange and share your traditions.
Responsible, adaptable, and communicative.
Let’s Grow Together!
We see this as a partnership—one where we all learn, laugh, and broaden our horizons. If you’re someone who finds joy in helping a toddler discover the world, values heartfelt connections, and wants to live in a city that balances nature and urban energy, we’d love to hear from you!
Thank you for considering our family. We’re eager to welcome you into our home and create meaningful memories together.
