Welcome Letter to the Au Pair
We are looking for someone to become part of our family and live in our home for a year or more. We need someone to start in March or April 2020.
My wife is from Argentina, I am from Canada, and we live in England. We visit with family from Argentina and Canada approximately once per year.
We live in a five bedroom house with a garden in Amersham, which is 35 minutes by train to Marylebone station in London (Zone 1). My wife and I work in London and we need someone to help with our children when we are at work. My wife does not work on Fridays. We need someone to work as a sole carer from Monday to Thursday during the week and help my wife on Fridays.
We have three children: two beautiful boys, Matias who is 10 years old and Maximilian who is 7 years old, and a beautiful daughter, Catalina, who is 5 years old. We would like them to be fluent in Spanish and English and at home we speak to them in Spanish always.
We have had four Spanish au-pairs. They have been happy to find a family that speak Spanish in England. Our current au-pair will leave us after one year in March . We helped her to find English language classes, which are offered locally. She attends English classes two times a week. We hope we can find a replacement who will be as good with our children as our current au-pair has been.
Job Description
You need to have a citizenship or a visa that will allow you to work in the United Kingdom.
We provide a car and require someone who is an experienced driver.
During the work week, from Monday to Friday, the working hours will be from 7 am to 9 am and from 2:30 pm to 8 pm. Also, one day per week we may need you to babysit for three hours in the evening so that we can go out for dinner or to the cinema. Some weeks we do not go out and you will not have to babysit, but that will not affect the amount of money we pay you.
On Saturday and Sunday we do not need you to work. Of course, you are still welcome to live and eat in our home when you are not working. You can spend your time how you like: attend language courses, visit friends, travel, do volunteering work or earn money in another job.
Your responsibilities will be as follows. In the morning you will prepare breakfast cereal for the three children. Then you will help clean Catalina's teeth, dress her and take the three children to school. They need to be at school at 8:50 am each morning. School ends at 3:15 pm and most days they have an activity until 4:15 pm.
In the evening you will prepare dinner for the children and bathe Catalina. We usually arrive home from work between 7 pm and 8 pm and usually we will put the children to bed.
Also during your working hours you may perform other domestic duties such as shopping for groceries, running errands, doing laundry for the children (we have machines to wash and dry), cleaning the kitchen after the children's meals, tidying their bedrooms and tidying their toys around the house.
We will pay pocket money of £150 per week, which is £650 per month. That is the net amount you will receive after any taxes. Your accommodation and meals would be included free and you would not have to pay any expenses for any electricity, heating, water, etc. If you stay with us for one year we will pay you an additional bonus of £500 at the end of the year. We can help refer you to English language classes that are available locally.
We have provided references for past au-pairs and helped them to obtain interviews for work and volunteer positions.

You are welcome to share the food in our house. On weekends we sometimes share meals with our current au-pair, in which case we all share equally to prepare the food and clean afterwards.
