Au Pair Wanted – Join Our Multilingual and Active Family!

We are a warm and dynamic family of four, including our friendly Golden Retriever. Our 6-year-old daughter is multilingual: she speaks Dutch, English, Italian, and Chinese, and has been learning French and Spanish for the past year. We are looking for an enthusiastic and playful au pair who can help improve her Chinese and teach her new words and characters in a fun, creative way!

Within our family, we speak a mix of languages. My daughter and I communicate in Italian, while my husband and daughter speak English. As a family, we speak Dutch together, but when we need to discuss something we don’t want our daughter to hear, we switch to French. This gives you an idea of how important languages are to us, and we’d love for you to contribute to this multilingual environment!

As a teacher myself, I can easily create lesson plans to ensure a productive yet enjoyable time. We had a great experience with an au pair last summer, and it was a big success!

We are an active family; my husband is very sporty, and we try to do as many fun activities together as possible. We live near Hasselt, with a bus stop and train station nearby for easy trips and outings. We are very flexible and love to travel, always eager to explore new cultures. Respect and harmony are important to us, and we value living together with mutual respect.

We are seeking a creative and engaging Chinese tutor / au pair for a child, focusing on expanding vocabulary, improving listening skills, and learning to write Chinese characters through fun activities like cooking, sports, and games.

Key Responsibilities:

Vocabulary Building: Teach new words through real-life activities (cooking, sports, games).
Character Writing: Make writing Chinese characters fun and interactive (e.g., painting, calligraphy).
Listening and Comprehension: Improve listening skills with related activities.
Speaking Practice: Encourage conversation using newly learned vocabulary.
Engaging Lessons: Use creative methods to make learning enjoyable.

Requirements:

Strong command of Chinese (spoken and written).
Experience teaching languages (preferably Chinese) is a plus not a must.
Creative approach to teaching and making lessons fun.
Patience and ability to adapt to the child’s needs.
Fluent in English/ Dutch or Italian for clear communication.

We live in a beautiful area near the Platwijers, a lovely walking area with ponds, and we’re also close to the city. The au pair will have their own private room and bathroom, as well as free Wi-Fi. If you enjoy cooking, feel free to showcase your culinary skills in the kitchen! We have a large garden, a bike available for you, and you are also welcome to use our fitness room.
