Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear Prospective Au Pair,

We are an American-Turkish family currently living in Istanbul and are excited to welcome an au pair into our home to join us on our global adventure.

Our Family

Our family brings together different cultures and perspectives. I (mom) am an American 10x bestselling author, international speaker, and CEO of a US-based company. My husband (the children's step-dad) is Turkish and owns several successful businesses in the restaurant and hospitality industry.

Istanbul has been our home for the past three years, where the children have attended an English-speaking Canadian school. We've recently made the decision to transition them to a fully online curriculum to provide both higher quality education and the flexibility to travel with me for speaking engagements and business opportunities around the world.

Our Home & Lifestyle

We've been fortunate to give our children the experience of living in different countries, with vibrant Istanbul being our current home base. Our lifestyle is intellectually stimulating yet relaxed. We cherish family discussions about philosophy, art, entrepreneurship, and world cultures. Travel is a cornerstone of our family values, and we believe in learning through real-world experiences.

## What We're Looking For

We're seeking an au pair who is:

Job Description

The primary role we'd like our au pair to play is engaging our children (ages 14 and 7) with enriching activities that develop both mind and body. We're seeking someone who naturally transforms everyday experiences into opportunities for growth and learning.

This might include art projects that explore different techniques and cultures, thoughtful reading discussions, nature walks in our local park, explorations along the nearby beach, or visits to Istanbul's fascinating museums. Each outing becomes a chance to spark curiosity and discovery.

Our family may take short educational trips to nearby countries like Italy or France. We may invite our au pair to join us on these adventures, helping integrate lessons about art, music, food, and history into the travel experience. These journeys become living classrooms where learning happens naturally through observation and exploration.

Each child has different educational needs with their online schooling:
- Our 14-year-old is largely self-sufficient and primarily needs a learning companion—someone to check in with, have coffee alongside, and provide guidance when asked
- Our 7-year-old, curious and inquisitive by nature, requires more hands-on support with projects, homework, and daily learning activities

A significant aspect of this role involves collaborating with me to design a schedule that keeps online learning engaging and meaningful. We're looking for someone who can help balance structured learning with creative activities, ensuring both children remain enthusiastic about their education while developing the independence and critical thinking skills they'll need as global citizens.

The ideal au pair will bring their own passions and interests to share with our children, whether that's music, art, science, languages, or other enriching pursuits that contribute to a well-rounded childhood filled with discovery and joy.
