Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

We speak German, English and Russian.

Dear au pair,

we are looking for you because we need your support in looking after our daughter during the week.

We are a humorous and active family and love spending time together. The children are nice, polite and uncomplicated.

We live 25 km from the city of Cologne, which has a population of one million. (The city of Cologne can be reached in just 25 minutes by car or 50 minutes by bus/train. Cologne is one of the most popular and largest cities in Germany. The people of Cologne are known for being particularly open, friendly and helpful. Cologne is also a very young city with a lively student and cultural scene.)

It is an advantage if you can speak either English or Russian if your German is not that good yet. This way you can communicate better on important topics.

We have had 6 au pairs so far and are happy to give their contacts. We still have good contact. One au pair lived with us for 2 years.

As part of our family, you are always welcome to take part in our activities, but you are welcome to withdraw, we value your privacy.

You always have time for your language course (online or in the city of Bergisch Gladbach) and have 90% of the weekends free. You also have free time during our holiday season (6 weeks a year) as well as many other long weekends (up to 4 days).

You have your own large room with private bathroom, TV (Netflix).

Job Description

A driving license is important.

Monday to Friday:
Son goes to school, in the afternoon to sports. The daughter goes to childcare until 4 p.m.
From 6 p.m. the parents are always at home and take care of the children. Mom works from home 2-3 days a week and also looks after the children.
From Friday afternoon to Sunday evening you have 90% off.

Twice a week you wake up your daughter and take her to kindergarten. In the afternoons the daughter occasionally has to be picked up from kindergarten. Twice a week the son has to be taken to sports. Our son is independent and does not need any supervision, except for driving the car.

Help with household chores such as ironing etc. is desirable and is done by arrangement.

Payment is made as required by law with additional payments for language courses and bus tickets.

The 30 hours (often less) are usually spread over the days Monday to Friday.
