Welcome Letter to the Au Pair
We live in Bijagua, Costa Rica which is a rural area in the north of the country. We also have a home in Playas de Coco, which is close to the beach on the Pacific side of Costa Rica. My wife (Bertha) and I have two young children, Kefen a five year old boy, and Sophy a nine year old girl. I am a native English speaker and Bertha is a native Spanish speaker. We would like the children to grow up speaking both Spanish and English very well, so we are looking for someone to be a nanny/au pair and speak and teach English to our children as well as engage them in various activities. Bijagua is a nice rural town, but English is not commonly spoken here and the local schools do not teach it well. We also have a beach house in Playas del Coco that is closer to the new school we have enrolled our kids in, and expect that we will also spend a lot of time there with whoever we may have as an au pair.
Our house in Bijagua is in the rainforest, we have quite a bit of nature on our large property with toucans, monkeys, sloths etc, but it is only a 5 minute drive to town and also easily walkable (2Km).

Family Description
Hi,We are an active family, we have a lot of nature properties that we like to hike and also spend time at the beach (the new school that we enrolled our children is near the beach).
I am 63 years old, Bertha my wife is 39 years old and our children are 5 and 9. As adults our interests are in photography, cycling, hiking, gardening, radio communications, and reading.
Our children are extremely active and physical, and we believe they are also intelligent and strong willed. We are 'hands-on' parents who spend a lot of time with our kids and work hard to make sure they are full of curiosity but also respectful of others and authority. Our 9 year old - Sophy - loves music, reading, Tae Kwon Do, and is very outgoing. Our 5 year old Kefren is very inquisitive, loves to build things, and is very active physically as well as mentally.
Bertha is a Costa Rican citizen with Nicaraguan roots and I am an American citizen with Egyptian roots. We try to be healthy with our bodies (our diet would be considered very healthy by today's standards) and also with the environment (we recycle, drive an electric car and generally try to be mindful of our surroundings etc.) The school that our children now attend is wonderful in that regard, and we are proud of how they care about nature, their own health, and the feelings of others.
We travel a lot, and are always trying to expose our children to new ideas and places.
