Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello!

We are a warm and caring family of three — My husband, myself and our cheerful 17-month-old son. Our little boy is full of curiosity and energy, and he currently attends childcare three days a week where he loves to explore and make new friends. He is super playful and loves to charm everyone he meets – He’s always smiling and trying to play with people in restaurants and in shopping centres!

We are a family who loves to travel and learn more about different cultures. My husband speaks Mandarin, Cantonese, Malay, and English, while I speak Cantonese and English. At home, we are raising our son in a Chinese and English speaking environment and would love for him to be exposed to even more languages — perhaps even Japanese!

We do not have any pets and enjoy spending quality family time together. We value kindness, open communication, and providing a nurturing space for our child to grow and learn about the world.

We live in a relatively new, modern double-storey home that is filled with natural light and designed with a clean, minimalistic style. Our home provides a comfortable and peaceful environment that reflects our appreciation for simplicity and a clutter-free lifestyle (although, it’s currently got lots of toys and books around for our little boy to play with!).

We live in a peaceful suburb located about 30 minutes’ drive from Melbourne’s Central Business District (CBD). Our neighbourhood is a relatively new estate with lots parks and playgrounds, modern homes, clean streets, and a friendly community atmosphere.

Public transport is easily accessible, with bus stops nearby and multiple train stations just a 10-minute drive away, making it convenient to travel to the city or explore the surrounding areas. Beautiful beaches are also only 15-minutes drive away. For everyday needs, we have a local shopping mall just five minutes away, offering a variety of shops, cafes, and essential services.

Our suburb offers the perfect balance between peaceful suburban living and easy access to the vibrant culture, dining, and entertainment options of Melbourne. An au pair will enjoy the blend of calm, family-friendly surroundings with plenty of opportunities to explore and experience what Victoria has to offer.

Job Description

We are looking for an au pair who can be a caring and responsible part of our family, helping us provide a nurturing environment for our son.

Your main tasks would include:
• Assisting with caring for our toddler, especially before and after childcare hours.
• Engaging him in play and developmental activities.
• Helping with meal preparation for our son.
• Light household tasks related to the child, such as tidying his toys, helping with his laundry, and keeping his play areas neat and clean.

We anticipate the au pair will work around 30 to 38 hours per week, with occasional evening babysitting if agreed in advance. Weekends will generally be free unless otherwise discussed, allowing plenty of time to explore and enjoy Melbourne.
