Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello!

We are a family of 3, Eloise (mom), Alexandre (dad), and Raphael (child). We live in Kilauea, Hawaii, one of the most beautiful places in the world on the island of Kauai. We are located a few minutes drive away from some of the most beautiful beaches in the world (Anini beach, Hanalei beach, Secret beach, etc) and also have nearby hikes with stunning views. We are looking for an au pair to care for Raphael (he will be 2 years old in July 2025) while we (Eloise + Alexandre) work.

A bit more about us: We are a French-American family and prioritize speaking French to Raphael. We love nature and the outdoors and can be found hiking or at the beach most weekends. We both work from home so can always be around to help out as needed as well.

A bit about you: The ideal au pair has lots of energy and creativity to keep Raphael entertained and discovering new things. You treat children with kindness and curiosity - excited to see the world through their eyes and help them grow. You are responsible and balance allowing Raphael freedom to discover with safety to ensure his health and well being. Finally, we do prefer an au pair who is also bilingual in French.

Job Description

The Au Pair will be responsible for our son, Raphael (turning 2 years old in July 2025), while we are working. The ideal candidate is creative and has lots of energy to play with Raphael and help him grow! Possible activities include going to the park or the beach, doing arts and crafts at home, going on stroller walks, visiting the local farm, etc. We prefer a French-speaking au pair so that Raphael continues to be immersed in a French-speaking household before starting school.

Accommodation

About our home: Our home has 2 floors - the upstairs contains the kitchen and living room along with the master bedroom, master bathroom and Raphael's bedroom. The downstairs contains 3 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms, including one bedroom with a half bathroom that will be the au pair's room. The other 2 bedrooms include 1 home office for Alexandre and one guest bedroom. There is also a small living room downstairs. We also have a backyard which has a vegetable garden, lots of citrus trees, an avocado tree, passion fruit trees and much more! (Alexandre is an avid gardener).
