Welcome to Our Family in the Beautiful Upper Valley of New Hampshire, near Boston!

Hello! We are a warm and welcoming family living in the Upper Valley of New Hampshire, near Dartmouth College. Our family consists of two loving parents (doctor and a software engineer) and our sweet 1-year-old baby girl. We are excited to invite an au pair into our home to become part of our daily life, share cultures, and help our little one grow and learn.

We are an active family who enjoys travel, arts and culture, reading, and cooking. We love spending time outdoors, exploring local hiking trails, and enjoying the vibrant community around us. We speak English at home primarily, and Dad is fluent in Mandarin—one of our hopes is for our daughter to learn Mandarin or another language such as Danish, French, Italian, or German.

The Upper Valley is a wonderful place that offers the best of both worlds—scenic natural beauty and a dynamic, intellectual atmosphere thanks to Dartmouth College. Our area has charming small towns, local theaters, art galleries, farmers' markets, and plenty of outdoor activities like hiking, skiing, and kayaking. The community is welcoming and family-friendly, making it a great place to live and explore. We are about 2 hours from Boston, and there is a bus service to the city which is conveniently a 20-minute walk from our house. We also drive into the city most weekends, and once every couple of weeks, we travel to New York, Connecticut, Burlington, Montreal, and other local destinations. We have 2 family cars, and one will be available for an au pair to use the majority of the time. There is also free bus service in the area, and many people bicycle to the nearby city center (Lebanon or Hanover) which are less than 15 minutes by bike.

We would love to welcome an au pair who is kind, responsible, and excited to engage with our daughter as she grows. Someone who would support our child learning a second language would be a big plus, as we’d love for our little one to be exposed to the language early on! In return, we offer a warm home, a supportive family environment, and a chance to experience life in a beautiful and enriching part of the U.S.

Job Description

We send our child to daycare full time (8am-5pm) so we are looking for morning and evening support since mom's job as a doctor starts at 6am and runs until 6pm, and dad often works later until 6-7pm. This job is great for someone who might be interested in working on academics or research at Dartmouth or other institutions nearby since you will have so much time off during daytime hours!

A typical week would involve help from 5:30am-8am to drop baby off at daycare, and help in the evening picking up the baby and watching her from 5-7pm until parents are done with work. All together, that would be about 20-25 hours per week, and occasionally, parents are both working at night so once or twice a month, you may be responsible for some extra time. Overall, the average time worked is will rarely ever exceed 30 hours a week, and will never exceed 40 hours a week.

We will pay a 200 USD/wk stipend as is standard in the US, and are willing to give bonus payment for exceptional care and times when we need more than 30 hours a week of childcare.
