Work abroad in Elizavéta's family for 12-12 Months starting from Jul 2026 as an Au Pair to take care of 3 children of 1 - 5 years old in Ödeshög, Östergötland Sweden

Start date: July/August 2026

Both of us work from home 8-17:00 most weekdays and sometimes Saturdays. Liza travels for work 1-2 days a week.

While the hours of this job are long, the intensity is low.

We practice authoritative, low effort parenting, which means we have few rules, but those that are in place are upheld regardless of the childrens' reactions to them. We believe in fostering self-confidence and agency, which is impossible if an adult is willing to solve most issues for the children.

Our attitude is hands off, and we aren't looking for the au pair to be a friend to our children – they have siblings for that. Instead, the au pair is the non-micromanaging boss during work hours and makes sure they don't get seriously injured. Bone fractures are anticipated, brain damage is not.

Valentina:
- Has an immense interest for machinery and building constructions.
- Loves physical activity and is an excellent runner and climber.
- Goes to kindergarten 08:00-11:00 Monday to Friday.
- Has very little innate respect for elders and needs strong leadership to submit. She has good judgement for a 4-year old, though, is very bright and rather kind, but also industrious, brave and confident. She needs to learn that she doesn't always assess situations correctly.

Yara:
- Social, loves the company of people she is familiar with.
- Enjoys being read to.
- Has a lot of character and is rather bossy, but more willing to follow elders' commands than Valentina.
- More sensitive than her sister and would benefit from adapting a more stoic mindset.
- Risk-averse and needs to be put in more challenging situations to build confidence.
- Will be starting kindergarten in September 2026 for 3 hours per day, like her sister.

Baby boy will be born in November 2025.

The girls play well together and enjoy each other's company. There is a mutual respect between them.

In short, we expect the au pair to make sure the kids are alive when we take over at the end of the working day. Intensive, scheduled days with hands on management and a neurotic au pair is not what we want. We believe the best environment for children is within a large family constellation where they have to navigate most issues on their own.
