The first challenge of the day is getting the kids out of bed.
That's sometimes not so easy because the boys like to sleep in.
Oskar and Frieda don't need as much help anymore; they dress themselves and walk to school.
Hugo needs help getting dressed and an extra 5 minutes of snooze time, then he usually gets up in a good mood.
When you've finished preparing his lunchbox, you take him to kindergarten.
If Micha or I are home, we sometimes do that if he wants it.
The "big ones" are at school until 2:00 PM and usually come home on their own.
Then homework has to be done, and from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM it's training or free time, depending on the day and the child.
Hugo stays at daycare until 4:00 PM and then has to be picked up. This is perfectly easy to do on foot.
While the kids aren't there, you can do a bit of housework, go shopping, do laundry, or do your homework for the language course. So the morning is yours to do.
When the kids return from daycare and school, you're their contact person for almost all matters.
You're a mediator, and being the adult in the house means you have to be able to assert yourself.
But you also have to be able to comfort or hug them sometimes. Cook now and then. Help with homework.
We want a more family-like atmosphere because your main job is caring for our children, which is the most important thing for us.
