Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello,

I am a mum and work full time for a bank. Back at work on the 1st of October we will need help for Gaspard, 4 years old and baby Oscar 1year old.

Where we are:
We have a beautiful house in London, SW18. It's a big house with a very nice garden. The area is also great - many parks, coffee shops, restaurants, nightlife. You can get to Brighton, Richmond, Wimbledon very quickly. Waterloo in central London is 10 minutes away. It is one of the nicest parts of London. There is also a very strong local community of Au pairs so you will be able to make friends quickly. We have had au pairs before and all of them made amazing friends during their stay in London.

Job Description

Gaspard is 4 years old now and such a smiler. He is the happiest boy ever and fun to be around. Perfect little charmer and the easiest little boy you can imagine.
Unfortunately Gaspard has some delays in his development. What it means in practice is he behaves like a bit younger child - does not speak yet but loves singing sounds. Otherwise he is a usual boy who likes playing and doing silly things. He is doing tremendous progress day after day at the nursery.
Oscar will be 1 year old on the 4th of November and is a very smily and happy baby!
We have had au pairs since he was one year old and found the experience to be great. We still have warm relationships with the girls and they are still visiting us regularly!
Our current au pair is brilliant but she will be leaving beginning of October to start a real job.
Feel free to ask her any questions!

Expectations
We would prefer someone over 20 years old with intermediate to good level of English and some experience with young children. We think that the role will be suitable for someone who is:
- mature enough to understand responsibilities and integrate in the family
- fun and easy going
- able to look after herself and her room
- tidy

You will be expected to work around 32-35 hours a week during school time and extra hours during holidays (approx 40 hours) but you will be paid more of course.

During school time the hours will usually be 7.15 -10:15am and 15.30-18.30/19.00PM.
Free between 10.15 and 15.30
Your main responsibility will be for Gaspard - getting him ready for school, helping with toilet, preparing light meals, taking care of his wardrobe, toys, playing, reading books. School bus picks him up at 8AM and brings him back home at 4PM. During the extra two hours between 8 and 10 you will keep an eye on Oscar and help with general light housework duties such as loading/unloading dishwasher, folding laundry, cleaning up after breakfast, quick hoover in the living room). The rest of the time you will have plenty of time to enjoy London and make new friends.

During school holidays time there will be extra hours to work and we will discuss a timetable which works for all. Your pocket money will be adjusted accordingly, more hours = more money.

We have a cleaner coming once a week who does the main cleaning. The rest of the week everyone (dad, mum and aupair) keep the house tidy.

We eat predominantly healthy food but like our occasional comfort food (Pizza, cake, barbecue...). Unfortunately we will not be able to cater for special diets such as vegan, halal, pescaterian etc.

We are also asking for one babysitting per week but in reality it wont be every week now that the baby is here. No work on public holidays.
