Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

To our future au pair,

We are a very happy family of four who love to go on adventures and have a good time.
We live in a bustling part of central london in a newly renovated four storey house close to beautiful parks, easy transport and lots of great restaurants.

We are both doctors so we need an au pair to help with our two gorgeous girls, helping with morning and evening activities and providing additional childcare during the school holidays.

We have a fabulous au pair currently who has to go back to her full time job as a social worker in Jan 2025 but she would be happy to chat to anyone interested.

Job Description

As two busy doctors we will have slightly unpredictable schedules and would need our ideal au pair to be flexible regarding routine! We are very laid back and would try to support whatever our au pair wanted to achieve too.

However it is important to note that during the school holidays (6 weeks over the summer, 4 weeks over Christmas and 4 weeks over Easter) we would need our au pair to take a significant childcare role, having Athena at least three days a week plus both girls together at least once a week. Therefore ideally we would like someone with some childcare experience.

Generally speaking the au pairs timetable during term time might look a little like this:

Sunday/ Monday
- Day off

Tuesday/ Thursday
- Help with breakfast and getting the girls ready for school.
- Pick Athena up from nursery at 3 and entertain her/help with dinner prep until Abbie and Alastair come home (usually around 6pm).
- Occasionally pick Astrid up at 5

Wednesday
- Help with breakfast and getting the girls ready for school.
- Light housework/dinner prep. Occasionally nursery pick up when their grandmother isn’t around as she helps with childcare on Wednesday.

Friday
- Full day with Astrid. And pick Athena up from nursery at 3pm. Help with entertaining and dinner prep till Abbie and Alastair home (usually around 6pm).

Saturday
- Half day helping with childcare to give Abbie and Alastair a chance to exercise/have a date!

(Could be slightly flexible regarding days/times off).

Once a week babysitting on ad hoc basis.

Salary/pocket money is really negotiable depending on the experience and number of hours. Our current au pair is very well qualified and experienced and so we pay around £1000 a month for around 30h.
During school holidays when a greater number of hours would be required we would of course pay more.

We also like to travel, often skiing in the winter and travelling round Europe in the summer and would happily take an au pair with us

Accommodation

We have a large house which is newly renovated and the au pair will have a beautiful new bedroom with a private en suite bathroom. They will also have full use of the house facilities with access to a gym. Car insurance could be sorted for anyone with a license and willingness to drive in central london!

We are very happy to fill the fridge with whatever snacks/ foods you enjoy. If you would like to join the family meals we can share the cooking between us, or you can cook separately for yourself (or a mix of both). Our current au pair is a fab cook and we have really enjoyed eating together and sharing new recipes
