Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Can you sail?

Dear Aupair,

We are looking for a happy, confident and energetic young girl to live with us in our home in south London as part of our family. You can expect to be treated like a big sister to our boys.

Your job with us will be in two towns:

At the family home, you will help look after our two boys by playing with them, taking them to school, taking them to the playground in the local park, excursions, bathing and putting them to bed at night.

Emsworth (Chichester Harbour)
At the holiday home, you will help look after the children by getting them up in the morning, going on excursions, swimming in the sea, sailing, and helping to put them to bed at night. The host father will be with you and the children seven days a week, the host mother will join the family four days a week. You will need to have a basic understanding of sailing a small dinghy.

In London we have a cleaner five mornings per week, so there will be little housework, just helping your host parents to clear away after meals or helping the boys to put away toys. In Emsworth there will be more housework required from you.

Your work will be about 35 hours per week and in London we will give you regular time off for English classes if required.

We will provide you with:
A private bedroom in our home in London or by Chichester Harbour;
Three meals per day;
Subsidised travel in London;
Help to speak fluent English;
A bicycle;
Half your travel costs to and from the EU;
90 GBP pocket money per week;
At least one day each week free from work.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
Tom and Clare.

Our family home is in Greenwich, a suburb of South London. It is a large house with a private garden at the front and rear. We have two bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs.

You will have a private bedroom with bed, comfortable chair, TV and desk, the window overlooks the front garden and street beyond. You will share the family bathroom upstairs.

There is a park behind the house. A bus stops outside the house taking you to the local towns.

Not far away is a railway station with trains taking just 10 minutes to central London, departing every 15 minutes.

The house by Chichester Harbour is not so well furnished, but you will have a private bedroom.
