Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Welcome to our family!
We are very excited to get to know you and to welcome you into our home in Switzerland.

Let me briefly introduce us:
My name is Dilek, I’m 42 years old and a single working mother to my wonderful little son, who is 1.5 years old. Our home is cozy, bright, and very child-friendly.

I work full-time in the IT field, mostly from home, which means I am around during the day and available for communication and support. Although I raise my son alone, his grandparents and his father live nearby and are very involved in our lives.

My son is an active, happy toddler who loves music, books, outdoor walks, and discovering new things. We are looking forward to welcoming someone who will play, laugh, and learn with him during this precious early stage of life.

A few things about our area:

- Möhlin is a peaceful Swiss town with everything you need – supermarkets, bakeries, cafés, and nature close by.

- The closest city is Basel, about 20–25 minutes by train, known for its culture, international flair, and beautiful Old Town.

- The nearest train station is Möhlin, which is within walking distance from our home and well-connected to Basel and other towns.

- There are several language schools in the area, for example in Rheinfelden and Basel. We are happy to support you in registering for a language course (usually German).

- You’ll have your own room in our apartment and plenty of privacy when you need it.

In our family, we value honesty, warmth, and open communication. We would love to create a relationship where you feel comfortable, supported, and part of our daily lives. At the same time, we respect your free time and want you to enjoy your stay in Switzerland, learn new things, and make great memories.

Job Description

We are looking for a caring, reliable, and proactive Au Pair who enjoys spending time with young children and is open to becoming part of our family life.

Your main responsibility will be to take care of my 1.5-year-old son during the times I am working. This includes:

- Playing with him (indoors and outdoors)

- Preparing simple meals and snacks for him

- Feeding him

- Changing diapers and helping with dressing

- Going for walks, to the playground, or participating in local activities

- Light household tasks related to the child (e.g., tidying up toys, washing his clothes)

Working hours:
Your help will mainly be needed during weekdays, approximately 25–30 hours per week, with some flexibility depending on my work schedule. Weekends are usually free, but occasional babysitting in the evening may be requested in advance.

Important skills and qualities:

- Experience with toddlers (either through family, babysitting)

- A warm, patient, and responsible nature

- Basic knowledge of child safety and hygiene

- Willingness to help with light household tasks

- Basic English skills

- A driver's license is not required
