Welcome Letter to the Au Pair
We are absolutely thrilled to welcome you to our family! We hope you feel at home with us as you embark on this exciting adventure in Madrid. We know that taking care of our 20-month-old son is a big responsibility, and we want to assure you that we will do everything we can to make you feel comfortable and supported during your time here.
About Us
We are a young couple with a busy work life, and we travel quite a lot for work—though never both of us at the same time. This is why we are especially excited to have you with us! We would love to have someone who can lend a helping hand, particularly when only one of us is at home, to ensure everything runs smoothly. We truly value the extra support you can offer as part of our family.
We used to live in London but we moved back to Madrid before our son was born since we believed this would be a better place to grow up in.
We live in the vibrant area of Manuel Becerra, a central and lively neighborhood in Madrid. Our home is cozy and welcoming, and we’re sure you’ll quickly settle in. Our little boy is curious and full of energy, and we’re confident that you’ll enjoy spending time with him. He loves playing, learning, and exploring, so your days will be full of fun and discoveries!
Our son´s nursery is within walking distance, 7 mins away from our home.
We have a spare guest room which would be entirely yours and a community pool, extremelly useful for our classis spanish summers ;)
About the Neighborhood
Manuel Becerra is a wonderful part of Madrid, with plenty of cafes, shops, and green spaces to enjoy during your free time. There are several parks nearby where you can take our son for walks or outdoor play.
Public Transport
One of the best things about our location is its easy access to public transportation. We are very well connected to the rest of the city, making it simple for you to get around.
Metro: The Manuel Becerra metro station is just a short walk away, and it connects you directly to Lines 2 (Red) and 6 (Gray), making it easy to get to many parts of the city.
Buses: There are also several bus lines that pass close to our home, providing more options for getting around.
The City Center
The city center of Madrid is just a 15-minute metro ride away, so you'll have quick access to famous places like Puerta del Sol, Gran Vía, and Retiro Park. It’s a wonderful place to explore on your days off!
Language Schools and Spanish Classes
If you’re interested in improving your Spanish while you’re here, there are several language schools nearby where you can take classes:
International House Madrid (10-minute metro ride) offers a wide range of courses, from beginner to advanced levels.
Aula de Español (about 15 minutes by metro) is another great option, offering immersive language courses in a friendly and supportive environment.
If you'd like, we can help you find a class that fits your schedule and interests!
Our Expectations
As our au pair, you’ll be responsible for taking care of our son, which includes:
Playing with him and engaging in educational activities.
Preparing simple meals for him.
Taking him on short outings or to the park.
Picking him up/ taking him to the nursery in case we are not available
Staying with him while he sleeps so we can have a couple of date nights every month
In addition, since our little boy will be going to nursery on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, we would greatly appreciate it if you could assist with some light household tasks during this time, such as:
Tidying up the living areas and keeping things organized.
Doing some light laundry or folding clothes.
Preparing meals or snacks for the family when needed.
We want you to feel like a valued member of our family, so please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any questions or need anything. We are committed to ensuring you have a great experience with us in Madrid. We both know the feeling of moving abroad and the uncertaincy about it so we will make sure that you feel welcome and taken care of from the first day.
Once again, welcome! We’re excited to have you join us and look forward to the wonderful times ahead.
Warm regards,
Miguel y Ruth
