Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

We are a warm, bilingual family relocating to Lehi, Utah, from Merida, Mexico. We have two wonderful children, a 7-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy, with a baby girl expected in January. We live in a modern 3-bedroom condo where you would have your own room and share a bathroom with the two older children.

Your expected hours would include helping the kids get ready for school in the mornings, assisting with some midday meals, and receiving them after school around 3 pm. From then until about 5 pm, you’ll engage in fun activities with them until their dad arrives home from work. Evenings and weekends are free, so you’ll have plenty of time to relax or explore.

We go to church as a family on Sundays, and you’re welcome to join us or accompany us on family outings on weekends if you’d like. You’re also welcome to explore independently or pursue whatever interests suit you in your free time.

As the kids’ first language is Spanish, we’re especially interested in finding someone who can practice English with them, helping them improve and maintain their bilingual skills.

Job Description

We are looking for someone to help with the kids for 20-30 hours per week on a flexible schedule—mornings, afternoons, or evenings as needed. Responsibilities include helping the older children get ready for school, assisting with midday meals, and engaging them in activities after school until about 5 pm. Additionally, we’d love support with the new baby and meal prep during the day, so someone who enjoys cooking would be ideal.

You’ll also have plenty of free time to explore, as weekends and evenings are free, with potential travel opportunities to join us or take time off to explore on your own.

Accommodation

We live in a modern 3-bedroom condo with plenty of amenities, including a clubhouse, swimming pool, and a nearby light rail station that can get you to downtown Salt Lake City in just 30 minutes. You’ll have a private room with a TV, access to all streaming services (Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.), high-speed internet, and a shared bathroom with the older kids. We’ll also provide a membership to the local gym and, potentially, access to a vehicle.

Our kitchen is large and modern, perfect if you enjoy cooking! We love a variety of cuisines—sushi, Mexican, Indian, and more—and enjoy homemade baked goods. While we try to eat healthy, we also enjoy exploring diverse and delicious foods.
