Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello! We are a warm, fun-loving Canadian family of six living a peaceful country life just outside Steinbach, Manitoba—only 45 minutes from Winnipeg. We’re currently looking for a *fluent Spanish-speaking au pair* to become part of our family and help our children grow in their Spanish language skills.

We have four wonderful children, ages 9, 7, 5, and 19 months. They are outdoor-loving, imaginative, and curious “country kids” who thrive in both muddy boots and cozy reading time. We homeschool and value a slow, intentional lifestyle rooted in our Christian beliefs.

Our home is on a peaceful 2-acre property where there’s plenty of room to play and explore. You’ll have your own private bedroom and bathroom, and you’ll be welcomed as a member of our family.

Job Description

We’re looking for someone to help during the mornings—mainly by spending time with our younger two children while I focus on homeschooling the older ones. This includes outdoor play, simple educational activities, light meal prep, and tidying up after the kids. Most importantly, we want someone who will speak Spanish with our children throughout the day. We spend 3 months each year living in Mexico and are committed to helping our children become conversational in Spanish.

We offer a calm and meaningful experience in a family-oriented environment. This is a 6-month position beginning as soon as July. You will be responsible to get your own Visa.

This position is approximately 25ish hours per week, although we might be open to full time with the right candidate. I am a birth doula, so occasionally I will need more childcare if I get called to a birth!
