Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello future family member,

Hello, thanks for stopping by. I’d like to tell you about my family, and we consist of my wife, Christina, my daughter, Olivia, and my son Archer. We live in a suburb of Oklahoma City called Moore. It’s about 10 to 15 minutes from the city center, but we have all the Major conveniences in our small town outside the city. There are plenty of restaurants, shopping areas and a rather large movie theater so that you can enjoy your average outing. We try to go out to eat about once a week. However, if I’m being honest, we are kind of stuck in a pattern where we eat at the same three or four restaurants almost all the time. So hopefully you’ll come up with some new ideas and change our normal routine a little.

There are plenty of language schools around with major universities and community colleges within a fairly close distance. However, public transportation is pretty poor in the Midwest. But we do have an extra car that can be borrowed. That would be your main source of getting around. As long as you don’t mind driving a pick up truck. If you’re interested, then I would suggest looking up Oklahoma City and seeing if this might be somewhere where you could stay for a year or two and be happy with the area. As it will probably be somewhat of a culture shock from wherever you came from before.

EDIT.. We have some household changes from when we originally wrote this. My father in-law and Mother In-law move in with us. He has dementia and she has a bad leg injury, so they have to stay with us from now on. That is also why I haven’t been on in a little while.

Hopefully I will hear from you soon..

Tyler

Job Description

As I said, in my initial letter, we are a family of Six plus two dogs. The new events have occurred since I wrote the first introductory letter. If I’m describing my family though, I would have to say the biggest thing about us is that we are Disney nerds. We go to Disney World at least once a year and this year for Christmas. This will be something that we will happily take you along with, and if you stay with us for two years will also be going for a week to Universal Studios as it opens an entirely new theme park in Orlando in 2025. We normally go at time to the parks as that’s one of our favorite times of the year. So, be prepared for lots of Disney pictures and Disney decorations to be scattered throughout the house. We also like to play cards and board games. Games like Skipbo, ticket to ride and of course Disney trivia are our preferred games. But the kids want you to play Normal young children games like tag and hide and go seek as well as their Switches’. Biggest goal for me is to have you teach your language to my kids!

We also like to go camping and we have a large travel trailer that we take to lakes and rivers to go on hikes and enjoy the countryside. We are hoping that you’ll join us on this, but it’s not mandatory if that’s not something that you enjoy doing. It’s hard to summarize your entire family and what they do in a few lines, but I hope this gives a small idea of who we are.

Mostly you'll be helping the kids get ready for school. then you'll be free for 6 or 7 hours. At about 240 PM you'll go pick them up. If you can't drive its not a deal breaker, because they could walk home with you. Once you are home you'll help them with their homework and play until dinner at about 5:30 PM. Thats the common everyday things we need. Maybe make a snack, or help them straighten their room.
