Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Welcome to our profile and allow me to introduce ourselves. My name is Nathan, I am 34 years old and the Dad of the family. My wife is Mariana, she is 25 years old and the mother of the household. We have two boys, Anthony and Leonardo (4 & 2). We also have two Dogs and a parrot!

We live on the outskirts (near countryside) of a large town called Northampton. It’s a 10 minute drive to town centre and many bus routes just short walk away.

For us, we do not see this as “giving a job”. We very much view this as inviting you to become an extended member of our family, who will be treated with respect and hope to have a long lasting friendship with us.

We are a relaxed couple who enjoy spending time with the family. Hobby wise, both boys play football at the weekends and are interested with anything to do with Spider-Man. Mariana loves animals and enjoys baking (although I would say her favourite hobby is shopping!). With a young family I don’t get as much time these days for hobbies, but I always liked playing guitar, exercising and learning languages. Mariana is Portuguese and I am from the UK. I would love to learn more Portuguese (I know a little already) but Mariana finds it difficult to teach, so it would be great to have someone to practice with.

Job Description

Mariana this year was diagnosed with FND. This is a neurological disorder, where sometimes she can be fine (you may not notice a problem) and then other times it is hard for her to move around. We would therefore like someone to be with us for wrap-around support for our children when she is struggling - To be clear, Mariana does not need any care, just the children. Of course, it would also be great if you could help with household chores as and when necessary. During the week the kids go to nursery (8:30 - 16:30), so you can expect to have a good amount of free time. Weekends we expect you to be free to do whatever you like, but are more than welcome to join us in anything we are doing.
