Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hi
We’re French/Moroccan family living in the suburbs of London. We’re looking for a new big sister to look after our 4.5 years old little girl.

We live in a multicultural and multilingual household and want to give our daughter all the opportunities to learn new cultures and languages.

Our current au pair has to carry on with the next step in her professional life at the end if this month so we’re looking for someone to start early January.

Job Description

Our daughter is at school in reception since September, and we need someone to cover for her school runs and pick ups 5 days a week.

She starts at 8:15 and finished by 15:15. However, 3 days a week, she has extracurricular activities where she needs to be driven too (we’re providing a car).
Some of these classes at within or near her current school. She only needs to be driven to and from those classes as adults are not allowed to attend.

As she's at school 5 days a week, this leaves you a lot of free time during the week, for your study and as well completely free over the weekend.

Commute to school
The school is 10-15 minutes drive from home - we are providing a small electric car for the school runs and to take our daughter to her activities. We would therefore prefer an au pair with a full UK driving licence.
You can also walk to/from the school in approximately 25 minutes walk through the park. Lastly, there is a bus 15 minutes walk away, that would drop you there in 5 minutes.

On school days, you’ll look after our daughter from 7.00 to get her ready and drop her to school for 8.15am. Then collect her around her around 3.30-4.00 pm and look after her until circa 6.30pm.

Hours
Morning : 7.00-8.10
Afternoon : from 15.15-30 or 17.00 depending on days until 18.30 or so
This should add up to circa 20-25 hours per week.

Evenings and weekends are free. Although, we could ask you to cover sometimes. We would always pay it as extra hours and provide as much notice as possible

We would expect you to keep the playroom and nursery tidy and her bedroomtidy after playing and activities. Same for your studio flat.
Also, we would need you to put her school clothes in the washing machine and ironing them as needed.

Regarding the common areas, we try to all work together keep it tidy and clean.
We would expect you to help with the housework chores much as clearing dishes after meals and putting them in dishwasher, emptying it if needed, wiping table and cooking area, hoover/cleaning up the floor…

Really like what you’d be doing in your own home…In other words, we all work as a family to keep the house enjoyable.

Pocket money is 150 GBP per week

Accommodation

We live in the south east of London, in Petts Woods, Orpington.
It’s a very lovely area chosen by many young families with a lot of good schools around.

It’s very well connected with trains to London every 10 minutes, with a direct commute London Bridge, Waterloo, Cannon Street, Charing Cross, Cuty Thameslink or Victoria in circa 30 minutes

It's a very safe area with many parks and woods around for walks but also many restaurants, cafes, shops as well as a lot of nail, beauty and hair salons.

We have a very spacious house so we have allocated a lot of place specifically for our daughter. She has her own nursery and bathroom and a playroom just for her.
We have the chance to have a nice patio terrace for dining and a large newly reshaped garden.
The house also includes a small gym.

We have created an extension with a small studio flat for the au pair. The studio flat has its own bedroom and shower room and even a small fully fitted kitchen.
