Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello and welcome! We're a warm and welcoming family of four living in the beautiful village of Blewbury, Oxfordshire. My name is [Your Name] and my wife, Steph, and I have two energetic and lovely boys—James, who is 8, and Alfie, who is 3. We’re looking for an au pair to join our family, help with light household duties, and enjoy village life with us. While it would be wonderful for our children to learn a second language, it’s not a requirement—we’re simply excited to welcome someone from a different culture into our home. We've had great experiences with a nanny who joined us on family holidays, and now we feel it’s the perfect time to bring someone new into our lives. Blewbury is a charming place to live, with a strong sense of community, and we’d love to share this experience with you!
We are 45 minutes from both central London and Bath by train, Oxford centre is a 20 minute drive away

Job Description

We are a friendly family living in the picturesque village of Blewbury, Oxfordshire, with two lovely boys, James (8) and Alfie (3). We’re looking for an au pair to join our family and help us with childcare and light household tasks, while also enjoying a unique cultural exchange and the charming lifestyle of rural England.

**Your Role and Responsibilities:**
As our au pair, your primary responsibility will be to assist with the care of James and Alfie. Your tasks will include:

- **Childcare:**
- Helping get James and Alfie ready in the mornings (e.g., dressing, breakfast).
- Taking them to and from school/activities (for James), and engaging with Alfie at home or during outings.
- Supervising playtime and supporting educational activities at home.
- Preparing simple meals and snacks for the children.
- Helping with bedtime routines (for Alfie) and keeping them both safe and entertained.

- **Light Household Duties:**
- Tidying up after the children (e.g., cleaning up toys, children's laundry).
- Helping with light housework (e.g., vacuuming, dishwashing, keeping shared spaces organized).
- Occasionally assisting with family meals (prep and cooking).

- **Cultural Exchange:**
- We’d love for you to share your language and culture with James and Alfie, but this is not a requirement.
- Engaging with the children in a friendly and positive manner, teaching them about your culture, traditions, and language (if you feel comfortable).

**Hours:**
- Typically, 25–30 hours per week, with 2 full days off (usually weekends).
- Flexibility required around family schedules, but we will ensure time for you to explore and enjoy your own activities.

**We Offer:**
- A private bedroom with all necessary amenities.
- A warm and supportive family environment.
- Accommodation and meals provided.
- Weekly pocket money (to be discussed depending on hours and experience).
- Opportunities to experience life in the English countryside and immerse yourself in village activities.
- Assistance with travel arrangements (if needed) and time off for holidays.

**Ideal Candidate:**
- A positive, reliable, and caring individual who enjoys working with children.
- Previous experience with children (preferably aged 3–8 years old) is a plus, but not essential.
- English language skills are preferred but not required.
- An open-minded, friendly attitude, and a willingness to learn about British culture and share your own.
- Someone who is happy to be part of a family and take part in occasional outings and activities.

We’re excited to welcome someone new into our home and are looking forward to the positive energy you’ll bring to our family. If this sounds like a great fit for you, we’d love to hear from you!
