Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello,

We are a family of 3 (occasionally 4 - I'll explain) who live in the Sydney Suburb of Panania. We have recently moved into a 5 bedroom house and are looking for an Au Pair/Nanny to assist us and our 15 year old son, Fynn.

Fynn is on the autism spectrum and has ADHD but is verbal and relatively high functioning. He's an absolute delight to live with as he is funny and curious about life and people. He's easy to manage behaviour-wise and isn't a fussy eater. We also have 2 Maltese/poodles who are very easy to look after too. Your main tasks will be getting him ready for school in the morning and looking after him in the afternoons after school. During school holidays he, and his sister Lucy, will be home full time and both parents will be at work.

Our family home is neat and tidy and has a swimming pool. It is close to public transport (bus and train) and only 30mins by car from the CBD and Eastern suburbs beaches.

Job Description

Our Au pair will need to be, first and foremost, good with special needs teenagers. While Fynn is easy to work with he does have trouble communicating at times and can get a little agitated. Somebody with large amounts of empathy and patience is required for him. Ideally someone studying teaching or child psychology would be perfect as he's be great experience for you. There'd also be some light cleaning and food prep but we (Leonie and I) would look after most of the cooking. You may need to, on occasion, attend therapy sessions with Fynn at nearby practices or they may attend our house.
