Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear au pair,
We look forward to welcoming you to our family in Paris starting at the end of August 2025 (no earlier than August 28th).
We hope you'll feel right at home in our apartment and in your fully equipped apartment where you'll live alone (it's located just across the street from us, in another building).
We've already hosted three au pairs, one of whom stayed with us for two and a half years ;)
See you soon!

Job Description

Our expectations

The au pair's job will primarily be to take care of the children after school from 4:20 pm (for Sidonie and Hippolyte) until 8 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. They will also be responsible for providing them with snacks, taking them to activities (if any), bathing them, helping Hippolyte (9 years old) and Sidonie (6 years old) with their homework, preparing dinner for the children, feeding them, brushing their teeth, possibly reading a bedtime story, and putting them to bed.
They will also be responsible for taking care of them on Wednesday afternoons from 1 pm (park, library, activities, etc.) and dropping Hippolyte and Anatole off at their activities, which start at 4:30 pm and finish at 5:30 pm (information to be confirmed at the start of the school year). Wednesdays will then end like the other days of the week. In addition, there are two babysitting sessions per week on average. All this for about 30 hours per week in exchange for accommodation (private apartment right across the street from the house), food, and pocket money every month. We will discuss all this together in person; it will be more practical and, above all, more pleasant!

Accommodation

We live in the 12th arrondissement of Paris in a large apartment on a square (soon to be pedestrianized) with a beautiful, typically Parisian fountain. We're right next to the metro on lines 6 and 8, which is very convenient for getting around Paris. We also live right next to the Bois de Vincennes and Lake Daumesnil (a 10-minute walk), which is very pleasant.
Each of the children has their own bedroom, and there are two bathrooms, a large kitchen, and a very spacious living room.
For the au pair, there's a separate 24m² apartment located in the building directly across from the house, with a kitchen and bathroom. We renovated the apartment in September 2021; it's great, and the metro (and many buses) are right outside the house.
