Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

We live in a small village in Cantabria with good internet (fibre and mobile connection, although we do not have a TV). We are 1.25 hour from Santander, 1h from Torrelavega, San Vicente or Cabezon de la Sal and 45 minutes from Potes. It is a place of outstanding natural beauty in the countryside.

If you are after a vibrant night life, the mall, theatres and cinemas, this is not the place for you unless you have a car and are willing to drive. However, if you enjoy reading, peace and quiet, nature, outstanding natural beauty, hot springs, rivers, trekking, cross country running or climbing this is a great match for you.

Driving and having your own car is not needed but it will give you more flexibility as this is a remote area. Our household has one car but we have previously let a very reliable Au Pair use it.

Having a work permit for Spain is an essential requirement (EU nationality is enough).

Job Description

30 to 40 a week, split ideally in 6 days. Salary will be defined according to experience and hours of work (in general we pay a competitive salary from 1000 to 1700EUR, this is gross and it requires a job contract so having your papers in line is essential. The upper range is for the perfect candidate which needs to have language skills, nanny skills, children education background, compatibility with our timetable and house rules, compatibility with our son and a great attitude to work and getting things done).

Mostly playing/entertaining and supervising our son (we are in the house and our son goes to pre-school from 9 to 15h) and speaking to him in German (or English...). Some cleaning and cooking would be a great plus (obviously included within the 30 to 40h).

If you need a day off or if you need to do something, we are quite flexible if you give us notice as we work from home and can organize our days.

Having a work permit is essential! And also access or right of access to the medical system in Spain or alternatively medical insurance.
