Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear future au pair,

We are so happy to welcome you into our multicultural family and home! We’re really looking forward to sharing this new chapter with you and hope that your time with us will be full of wonderful experiences, laughter, and mutual learning.

We are Agathe, Cosmin, and baby Nina, our little girl. We live in a cozy house with a garden in a small and quiet italian village, surrounded by nature, just 5 minutes by car from Portogruaro. You can easily reach Portogruaro by bus, or by car (we can bring you when you need if you do not come with your own car), where you’ll find shops, cafés, and a friendly local atmosphere. There’s also an Italian language course available in town if you’d like to improve your Italian.

From Portogruaro, the train to Venice takes only about 40 minutes, which makes it easy to explore the city on weekends. We are also lucky to be close to both the mountains (1 hour away by car or train) and the beach (25 minutes away by car or bus 40min) — perfect for short trips or relaxing days off!

At home, life is calm and family-centered. We love spending time together, cooking, going for walks, and playing board games. Cosmin works from home as a financial analyst, and I (Agathe) run my own business, so we both have flexible schedules and are home everyday. You’ll be helping us take care of little Nina while I work, either in the mornings or the afternoons depending on your schedule if you have language classes — she’s a joyful and curious baby who loves full attention, books, and songs.

We will make sure you feel at home with us — you’ll have your own private room and all your meals included, of course. We believe that being an au pair is a cultural exchange and friendship building experience, so we hope you’ll feel like part of our family. We both studied and lived abroad in 7 different countries so we hope to provide you with the love for cultural mix.

We can’t wait to meet you in person and start this new adventure together!

With warmth and excitement,
Agathe, Cosmin, and baby Nina

Job Description

We are looking for a friendly au-pair who is capable to take care of our 3months old baby 5 hours/day over 5 or 6 days per week.
It is important for us to find a calm figure for Nina, as we want her to grow up with patience and smiles. Nina requires a lot of stimulation when we take care of her, so the au-pair would need to know how to be 100% present when taking care of Nina during those hours. Activities such as reading, singing, and playing are a must. We would also like someone who likes to walk outside or spend time in the garden with her on nice weather days.

You do not have to clean the house as part of your job, apart from the usual "tidy after yourself" rule of living together when you use the common parts of the house. We want you to be dedicated 100% to our baby and not the cleaning during your working hours.

Food: Nina will start the food diversification around 4-5 months. It is possible that sometimes we request you to make a little purée for her, but in general we will prepare it ourselves. Because of this we would also prefer someone with a certificate of first aid course.

Bathing: You will need to change the diapers of Nina during the working hours, but we will take care of bathing her daily; this will not be part of the job.

On your free days, we are happy to include you in our family activities if you wish, such as going out for a walk/gelato, meeting with friends and family members, spending Christmas with us if you wish... You, of course, can eat every meal as a family with us at the table. You can either eat what we cook, or you are also free to request that we buy specific ingredients for your own cooking.

You would receive 150-200€/month depending on your experience of pocket money + a telephone sim card.

We would be happy to bring you to your language course by car, or to the city/train station when you need as long as you ask prior so we can organise ourselves.
We can speak English or Italian at home, as you prefer.
