Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

We are a large and dynamic family, preparing for an exciting relocation to more substantial estate in Scotland in early 2025.

We seek a confident, responsible, and capable Au Pair/Childcare & Household Assistant, joining in a team of 2-3 members, to support the development of our 3 children, all under 10, while helping to maintain a well-organised yet relaxed household.

For those interested, there are further opportunities to become involved with our biotech startup or glamping business, allowing you to engage with dynamic, evolving industries while expanding your professional reportoire.

If you’re passionate about children, value personal growth, open to experience, and are looking for a role where you can develop and experience in a stimulating, yet nurturing household environment, we invite you to apply.

Job Description

At the heart of this role lies the nurturing of our children's development. You’ll engage them in creative, thoughtful play—both indoors and out—designed to support their social, educational, and emotional growth. The approach is grounded in compassion, warmth, and the intent to foster secure attachments that build confidence and happiness.

Your role will also include assisting with light household tasks—organising toys, tidying play areas, and preparing simple meals, ensuring the home remains, comfortable, functional and harmonious. While we appreciate a tidy environment, perfection is not our aim—our priority is a household that feels lived-in and welcoming, not rigidly maintained.

This role offers much more than the conventional Au Pair experience; it’s an opportunity for someone eager to deepen their understanding of child development, while also broadening horizons through active engagement in our wider interests.

With our eldest son being autistic, experience with autism support strategies is highly valued. However, if you are eager to learn, we offer guidance and training to help you expand your knowledge in this field.

In addition, there’s the potential to explore roles in our broader family projects, including a biotech startup and a glamping business on the estate. These ventures offer hands-on experience in exciting industries, making this position an ideal fit for someone looking to expand their social and professional circles.

Ideally, you have some experience in childcare, whether through your extended family or more formal settings. Any background or interest in autism support and child development is highly valued. Most importantly, you’re passionate about helping children learn, grow, and thrive.

An individual that is organized and proactive is key, having organisational skills and the ability to manage household needs with ease, offering proactive support while maintaining a calm, composed presence. You’re sturdy and capable, with a mindset of "getting things done" while also bringing warmth and emotional intelligence into your work with the children.

This is rile offers the opportunity to live and work on a substantial estate in Scotland, surrounded by the beauty of nature, where
you will become a valued member of the family, contributing both to the smooth running of our household and to the positive development of our children.
