Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

!!! DUE TO SWISS LAW WE CAN ONLY GIVE WORK TO CITIZENS FROM A COUNTRY IN THE EUROPEAN UNION !!!

Patchworkfamily seeking for extraordinary and flexibel Au-Pair

Dear (possibly) future Au-Pair
We are a patchworkfamily living in the so-called “Zurich Oberland” (a region 30 minutes by train from the city of Zurich). We are: mother Mirca, stepfather Ralph, father Bruno and the three Kids. Luna (born in 2011), Roméo and Joya (twins born in 2016), a dog and three cats.
As the parents share the child custody, the kids live alternating one week at the house of Mirca and Ralph, one week at the flat of Bruno. The two living places are a five minute walk from each other. Therefore the Au-Pair works one week at one place one week at the other. The sleeping place of the Au-Pair remains all the time at the house of Mirca and Ralph.
Some information concerning the kids:

During Monday to Friday the working routine looks like this:
06:00 / 07:00 waking the kids, dressing Joya
07:20 preparing breakfast for the kids (simple breakfast, e.g. Yoghurt, piece of bread
with butter
07:30 helping Joya brushing her teeth, putting her shoes and jacket on
07:40 – 07:55 Kids go to school
08:00 – 09:30 light housekeeping work
09:30 – 11:30 break
11:30 preparing lunch (usually warming the leftovers from the past day(s))
12:15 having lunch with Luna and Roméo
13:15 Luna and Roméo go to school or Roméo goes to visit friends
13:30 – 15:30 break (at home, as Roméo is around)
15:30 – 16:30 kids come home from school
16:00 prepare a snack of fruits and sweets for the kids
16:15 – 19:00 spending time with the kids (drawing, playing games, going outside for a walk)
19:00 finishing time (the Au-Pair may have dinner with the family if wanted)
During the week the kids are a the flat of the father Wednesday is a day off. The weekends are always free days.
We are always within reach or by telephone or in the WhatsApp chat (a group with all involved people).
Apart of the working time the Au-Pair will visit a course to learn the German language which is paid by us. Also the train fare to the course is paid by us. We pay half of the health insurance costs and all the costs for the accident insurance. We have a SIM-card the Au-Pair can use (flat rate, we are paying the costs).
We are a “special” family having our hearts in the right place, laughing a lot. We can submit references from former Au-Pairs and would love to get to know each other at a video call. Don’t hesitate to ask further questions if there are any.

Job Description

What are our expectations?
We expect our children to be treated with respect and yet our rules be enforced. We have certain rules, but we also have a lot that allows decisions to be made consciously based on gut feeling – because gut feeling is usually a really good guide. We are allowed to make mistakes, because we can only learn from mistakes. We often reflect on each other in the evening to perhaps be able to solve an upcoming similar situation differently.
As an au pair, you will be clearly advertised to the children as having “educational authority” – because you should not be a jack of all trades, nor a mere playmate, or even a cleaning service.
We would like someone who keeps calm in hectic situations but can also laugh along in funny moments.
Since all three go to school resp. going to kindergarten and we are working, we expect you to prepare lunch (usually leftovers from the night before at noon) and send Luna and Roméo to school on time in the afternoon. Since Joya attends an all-day special school, the school taxi picks her up in the morning and brings her back later in the afternoon. The Kinderspitex also comes twice a week and deals with Joya for 2 hours each time.
The times when you would be alone with all three children is therefore small. To the Kiga resp. At school you always have breaks or time for yourself. Also at noon, since our children always take a midday rest.
Of course we do enough housework. We expect your help here as well and are open to consciously contributing your strengths.

We would like someone in the house who treats us with respect and is willing to open up and integrate into our family life.
Since, as mentioned above, the children are with their daddy every 14 days, you not only have free time on these weekends, but also "rest" due to the much quieter environment.
It is very important for us to mention that we have family and friends in the area. So if you ever get stuck, don't be afraid to call these people and ask for help. Because asking for help is a really strong trait!
We hope that this has given you a first insight into our family and we look forward to getting to know you.
