Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Originally translated from Français
Hello and welcome to our family!

My name is Laurielle, a Senior Manager at PwC. I am Canadian and French-speaking, but I also speak English very well. I enjoy traveling, sports, reading, and spending time with my extended family. I am a bon vivant, appreciating good wine and good food.

My partner is French and he did a PVT in Australia before coming to Canada, where we met. He has just started his construction company as a general contractor. He shares my passions for sports, family time, and of course, good food and good wine.

We have a little girl, Rose Aimée, born on April 6, 2023. She is very energetic, curious and sweet. She loves to chat and play with blocks. She is meticulous and very strong in motor skills. She takes mini gym classes and we would like to resume swimming, although it is not her favorite sport. She is already potty trained.

We are expecting a second baby girl in mid-May 2025 and we are looking forward to welcoming her into our family.

We plan to live between Dunham and Saint-Bruno. Dunham is about 1h30 from the city center by bus, while Saint-Bruno is more like 30-45 minutes by bus, train or metro. There are certainly language centers or schools nearby.

We also have a small poodle dog, female, 9 years old. She is very calm and playful (she loves to play with ball and could play for hours). She likes to play with Rose Aimée, although sometimes she gets bored more quickly than Rose-Aimée. She barks sometimes. We also have a Siamese cat, Ivy, who is very clingy and calm. She does not let herself be approached by everyone too much, but if you like to pet her, she will often come to see you. You would only be asked to take Nella out occasionally, either to throw the ball or go for walks.

This will be our first experience with an Au Pair and we would love to welcome you as an Au Pair and Granny Au Pair in our family. We hope you will feel at home with us and that we can share many happy moments together.

Job Description

We would like someone who can help us with simple household chores, washing and cooking for the children.

When it comes to raising children, we are more of a live and let live type. However, we remain firm in our orders. For example, if we say no, it's no. Afterwards, there is room for discussion before saying no. We really take the time to explain things well to Rose Aimée, since she was very young, even if she didn't understand. We say thank you all the time as soon as she gives us something and it's something we want to keep. We avoid any unpleasant comments towards her, even if sometimes she can be a little difficult. We try to stay calm, patient and explain things and we repeat ourselves OFTEN.

Accommodation

We have wifi at home of course. The Au Pair will have access to her own room, but will have to be flexible about the space, as we may rearrange often. This leaves room for more exploration! We like to go on short trips, so we would like an Au Pair who is also flexible. The Au Pair will probably not have her own bathroom and will have to share it.
