Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear Future Au Pair!

We are so delighted to welcome you into our family! We feel incredibly fortunate to have you here to help care for our little Lucia, who is now 12 months old. We have an awesome Au Pair currently from Spain, who has really become a part of our family. Sadly, she has to go back to Sevilla so we are looking for someone to start in April 2025 and be with us at least 12 months.

Your role is so important to us, and we’re excited about the special bond you’ll create with Lucia!

In our home, we speak both American English and French, and we are thrilled that you will be adding Spanish to Lucia’s world. Leah (mom) spent a lot of time in Spain (Sevilla and a bit Madrid) and loves the Spanish culture. Your unique contribution to her language development will be invaluable as she grows up in a multicultural and multilingual environment. Lorena (our current Au Pair) has already started the ball rolling - Lorena’s first words so far are “Mama”, “Dada”, and “Ven ven ven!” as she calls her doggy Henri to come here in Spanish. :)

So yes: we also have a little Maltese named Henri, who is very sweet and loves attention. While your main focus will be on Lucia, we would appreciate your help in taking care of Henri from time to time. He’s a little bundle of joy, and we know he’ll love spending time with you!

For your convenience, our home is just a 10-minute walk from the train station, which can take you to Cannes in 19 minutes or downtown Saint-Raphaël in 13 minutes. Both locations offer language schools where you can further improve your French or English skills, and we’re happy to help you find a program that suits your needs.

And if you love the beach you will love living here - the beach is a 5-minute walk from our home!

We also look forward to having you join us on our trips to places around Europe and the U.S., where we go once or twice a year. These trips will be a great opportunity for you to explore new places and experience other European + American culture firsthand.

Please know that our home is your home too. We want you to feel comfortable, supported, and truly a part of our family. If you ever have any questions or need anything, don’t hesitate to ask. We’re here to make sure your time with us is enjoyable and fulfilling.

Job Description

We currently have an amazing Au Pair from Sevilla, Spain who is sadly leaving us in April.
We are looking for a caring and experienced Au Pair to take Lorena’s place and join our family to help care for our daughter Lucia, who will be 13 months old in April 2025. This position is for 5 days a week, with a commitment of 6-7 hours each day.

Responsibilities:

- Primary Care: Your main responsibility will be taking care of Lucia during the day, ensuring she is safe, happy, and well-nurtured.

- Feeding Support: Experience with babies, especially breastfed ones, is preferred. You will assist with feeding times (including preparing organic baby food!), following Lucia's feeding schedule, and sometimes giving her a bottle before naps/bedtime.

- Daily Activities: Engage Lucia in age-appropriate activities, such as walking/crawling play, Montessori toy play, and reading, to stimulate her development. We are a Montessori family so very into the Montessori toys / approach to raising Lucia!

- Outdoor Time: We enjoy spending time outdoors, and we’d love for you to take Lucia for walks (when it's not too hot!) and help her explore nature safely.

- Light Baby-Related Housework: This includes tidying up Lucia's play area, preparing simple baby meals if needed, and handling her laundry.

- Meal help: This includes helping us set the table and/or clear the table, and filling/emptying the dishwasher.

- Occasional Pet Care: While your focus will be on Lucia, we may ask you to occasionally help with our sweet Maltese, Henri, especially during our walks.

Requirements:

- Experience: We are looking for someone with experience caring for babies, ideally with familiarity in handling breastfed toddlers.
- Languages: In our home, we speak both American English and French. We would ask you to speak Spanish with Lucia to support her multilingual development.
- Personality: We seek someone warm, patient, and nurturing, who will be a loving presence in Lucia's life.

MOSTLY we are looking for another member of the family to come join us for the next 1-2 (or even longer!) years!

- Accommodation: You will have your own bathroom and bedroom with a full-sized bed (140cm), TV, desk, and drawers/armoire to store your things. It is very private at the end of our hallway and the door can be closed to your bedroom/bathroom suite for complete privacy!

- Proximity to Amenities: Our home is a 10-minute walk from the train station, which offers quick access to Cannes (19 minutes) and downtown Saint-Raphaël (13 minutes). These areas have language schools, should you wish to take classes.
