Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hey there! :-) We're a family with 4 kids. Our greatest daughter is an elementary school kid of 8, our eldest son is 6 and visits the kindergarten in the morning. He will start visiting elementary school in August '24. Our little daughter is 3 and visits the kindergarten as well. Our youngest boy is 1 and will start visiting partially day care (2 mornings per week) in August '24.

We're looking for a family friendly Au-Pair that supports us mainly in the afternoon when all kids are at home, playing with them or escorting them to appointments/sports. You should be able to support us also with some easy tasks in the household like doing the dishes or tidying up the rooms.

You might expect being part of our family as much as you like while we will respect your private needs of freedom and independence. You will learn to live in a german family, getting to know the country (we're centrally located in Germany), language and culture.

We're living in a quiet village of 2'500 inhabitants with a good connection to the next biggest city Paderborn (5 minutes ride with the train) which offers shopping malls, cinemas, language courses and more activies.

We're living in a big house with a nice garden around. Each kids has its own private room as well as you will have your own private room with a separate bathroom. Your rooms are in the top floor so you might enjoy privacy. The whole house is covered with WIFI, providing high speed internet. We want you to feel as comfortable as possible while being far away from home and we will be happy to discuss any arrangements that you need.
Our household is relatively clean for having 4 little kids in it. A maid is cleaning the house every week.

Job Description

We need your support mainly for lunch time, afternoons and sometimes in the evening. You should be available for the little ones while mom is helping with schools' homework or the bigger ones are getting a lift to sports/horse riding. Furthermore we expect some help with cleaning the dishes after shared meals or also for preparing a snack in the afternoon or evening. Once a week we're striving for having an evening as a couple, maybe visiting a nearby restaurant while you would be the babysitter.

Monday to friday you would be off for at least 4 mornings. We would be happy to support you with finding a language course or helping you to arrange other activities.

Once a week - usually sunday evening - we're discussing the upcoming week with working hours, days off and sharing our plans/schedules. Sometimes we will ask you to support us on weekends which will allow you to have more days off during the week.

A usual weekday in our life:
- we start preparing the day with breakfast and waking the kids at 6:30
- kids leave the house for day care / kindergarten / school at 8:00
- Gunnar starts working in his office attached to the house after dropping off some of the kids
- you get up and join for a coffee / breakfast with Caro (if you like) whenever you want :-)
- on some days you pick up a kid from kindergarten or day care at 12:30
- we have lunch together with most of our family at 13:00
- after everybody helped doing the dishes you start playing with the little ones while Caro supports the elder kids with doing their homework
- the whole afternoon Caro and you are both responsible for taking care of the kids
- we have dinner at 18:00
- afterwards you support us with doing the dishes while we put the kids to bed
