Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Welcome to our home in Perth, Western Australia! We're a lively and blended family of five: Zoe (10), Zach (9), Lenny (5), and our two little puppies Milo & Teddy (1yr and 15 weeks). We live in a beautiful suburb near Fremantle, with stunning Perth beaches just a short 10-minute drive away. We love exploring everything from the bustling city center to parks and beaches nearby.

At home, we primarily speak English. I (the mum) am originally from Germany and spent six years in the UK, while Dad is from New Zealand, bringing his unique flair to our multicultural household.

Despite our busy lives, we're laid-back and love spending time together, whether relaxing by the pool, enjoying family bike rides, or sharing meals. As our au pair, you'll be an integral part of our family, and we look forward to making your stay both enjoyable and rewarding.

A Note on Our Family Setup...
Because of our shared parenting schedule, only one of the big kids will be home at a time, plus our youngest, Lennox. This means things stay calm, and you won’t be juggling three kids at once!

Our current au pair will be finishing up with us end of March 2025. She is more than happy to have a chat with you ... telling you how life is with us.

Job Description

Here's what a typical week will look like Monday to Friday:

Your morning starts with helping the kids get ready and guiding them through their morning routines. Then, prepare a yummy breakfast and assist with their school drop-off (8.30pm). Afterward, you can help with light housekeeping tasks or run errands, such as grocery shopping.

Up to 3:00 PM: Your time to explore, relax, and enjoy!

3:00PM: You’ll pick the kids up from school and then spend a playful and relaxed afternoon with healthy snacks and start prepping for dinner. Enjoy dinner together, followed by a fun bath time.

Once a week, we usually have a date night, meaning you’ll have an early evening with the kids.

Weekends:
Your weekends are mostly yours to enjoy! Occasionally, we might ask for a hand with the kids if we have plans, but we’ll always give you plenty of notice.

A Note on Our Family Setup...

On average, you’ll be helping around 30 hours a week, with flexibility built in. We want to make sure you have a great balance between helping out and having time to enjoy your own interests!

Besides hanging out with and taking care of our awesome kids, we'd love a bit of help around the house with everyday tasks like tidying up, folding laundry, and sometimes cooking. ✨ (No worries about heavy cleaning; we have a cleaner who takes care of that!)

You'll be working around 30 hours a week, spread over 5 days, so you'll have plenty of time to explore and enjoy yourself too! (any extra hours on the weekend will be paid additionally)

As for pocket money, we'll provide $250 to $300 a week, so you can treat yourself and have some fun while you're here!

Accommodation

We're so excited to welcome you to our home! ? It's spacious, with a stunning pool, gym and an outdoor area that's perfect for bathing in the sun. We can't wait to give you a tour on our first FaceTime call.

As our au pair, you'll be staying in your very own brand new pool house ("granny flat"), right next to the main house. It's your private space! You'll have your own bathroom, and you'll also have access to my car (most days), so you can explore all the incredible sights and beaches Perth has to offer. Can't wait for you to join our family and start this adventure!

Where we live ....?!

We live in the gorgeous city of Perth, just 5 minutes from the vibrant heart of Fremantle. ✨

You're going to adore living in Fremantle! It's an incredibly lively and charming place, literally just a stone's throw from our home.

Fremantle has stunning beaches like South Beach, Bathers Beach, and Leighton Beach, perfect for swimming, chillin, sunsets, sunbathing, and surfing. Plus, there are tons of parks and gardens, such as the Fremantle Arts Centre and the Esplanade Reserve, ideal for escaping the city buzz.

If you're a sports fan, you're in luck! Fremantle has fantastic venues like Optus Stadium and Fremantle Oval, where you can catch games from the Fremantle Dockers or watch cricket and other sports events.

Getting around is easy too with plenty of buses and trains, and you can always go on a day trip to explore the nearby Margaret River or Swan Valley wine regions.

Fremantle is bustling with art galleries, museums, and markets, not to mention loads of trendy cafes, bars, and clubs. You'll have everything you need right nearby, including shops, supermarkets, and medical facilities.
