Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello,
we (that's my husband (45), my daughter (4), my son (2) and me - Natalie (35)) live in Schwabach, a small town (40,000 inhabitants) near Nuremberg (10 min by train ). We live very centrally, which means that we don't need a car in everyday life, but can walk or cycle. My husband and I agree that we want to have the children with us and give them a "free" life as long as possible. That (besides the fact that our daughter is really very shy and afraid of strangers and children) is why we don't use kindergarten all day, but bring them only a few hours a day (more specifically, my son will start in October and Lavinia currently goes to kindergarten 3 days for 3 hours). However, I am currently working on my PhD and miss having more time for myself and my work. That's where I think you could help me/us perfectly. I can't tell you exactly what your duties are or when/how we can best generate some free time/work for me, but my idea is that you might take them to kindergarten in the mornings (dance class in the afternoons and/ or play with them sometimes in the afternoons (this is mainly just with one so I have individual playtime with each child). They prefer to go to bed with me, so that wouldn't be your part needs of the kids and your favors, we could alternate between childcare and/or kitchen work/housekeeping. You see, there is no strict plan that you/we have to follow, but we could arrange it in a way that suits all of us best.Generally, we have a cleaning lady, so this is not a main task of yours. Exception could be in August and September, as she has surgery and will be off for a few weeks....
Our family and especially our children love to be active and in nature, be it hiking, biking, winter sports, horseback riding, bouldering (inside) or swimming. Maybe I should mention that we care about healthy, organic food. That's why you will find a lot of vegetables, fresh food and whole grain products at our table (you don't have to share this view and way of eating, but it should be ok for you that our meals are dominated by healthy products, since you you will be part of our family). Otherwise we are quite normal ;-), rather quiet and easy-going.
We live in a fairly large house (and especially with a large open kitchen ;-)!), where we provide you with your own room and bathroom (of course we have wifi). We have many bikes (road and mountain), a rowing machine, pull-up bars, a wahu-borad, snowboards for the winter (we were ambitious snowboarders before the kids came...), a public swimming pool 500 meters away and of course forest to go jogging. That if you like exercising ;-).

We are tolerant and open-minded and respect for our fellow man is very important to us. It is our first experience with au pairing, but for us it is important to make your stay a win-win! Therefore, we are very interested in meeting your needs as well as ours. And since we are pretty much free to arrange our day the way we all like it, we will surely have a good time together!

We would love for you to start soon. For the duration of your stay we are flexible :-).
Basic knowledge of German is preferred, as the children are still very young and do not speak English. Furthermore, we are excited to see how you can enrich our lives with your personality, experiences and talents :-).

Weeell, I probably forgot a lot. But if you are interested, just give me a short feedback and I will give you the missing information or/and we could talk via whatsapp or similar.
Looking forward to hear from you!

Best,
Natalie
