Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hello! Welcome!

I am Brenda and I can speak English quiet fluently. We have had an aupair from the UK for 6 months and we had a great time together. Now she finds a job here and is working in our city as an English teacher for children with a high salary. She loves our city Shenzhen which is a very big city next to Hong Kong. You can find out videos of Shenzhen to know more about our city. China is developing very fast and Shenzhen is a very dynamic city. Our city is one of the four biggest cities in China. You have nothing to worry about to live with our family in China. If you want to learn Chinese, experience Chinese culture, and travel in China with us, we will be your best choice. You will be a family member of us, and I can't wait to meet you!

We want you to be a native English speaker to read English books to my son Lucas at home. If you are also fluent in French or Spanish, that will be better. We do not expect au pairs who began to learn English after they go to school. We welcom au pairs whose family are all native English speakers.

Due to the Chinese visa regulation, you can only stay in China for 3 months with a business visa, and you have to have working experience. If you are still a student or just graduate from school without any working experience, you may not get a business visa successfully. I will help you by providing an invitation letter from a Chinese company for you. Only in this way can you apply for a business visa. I will also pay for the agency to help you with the visa. Otherwise, you can only stay in China for a month with a tourist visa.

I will pay you pocket money 400 dollars every month. You will need to cover your own travel cost (You'd better fly to Hong Kong since it may be cheaper. It's very convenient to get to Shenzhen from the Hong Kong internationl airport and I can pick you up). You may need to pay for your visa as well. You do not need to pay for anything else when you are with us. We will cover everything including eating out or traveling with us. You will have your own bedroom in our apartment. If you like the food we cook you can eat with us everyday. You can also cook by yourself. That's up to you. You can have all the food in the refrigerator for free. If you have any special preferences, you can also buy food by yourself. Food is not expensive in China.

From 5:30pm to 8:30pm during the weekdays, you can read and play with Lucas together at home. During the school hours on weekdays, you can do whatever you like. You can also go out if you want.We do not expect you to do any housework! You do not need to do any babysitting job either. We expect you to be with us for most of the weekends and holidays. You can also participate in our family activities, such as going for a walk after dinner, going to the park, going to the mall or supermarket, dinning out, and going to the amusement parks and various surrounding attractions.

I hope you are good at communication, and love children very much. I think your interest in talking with Lucas in English is very, very important. We prefer outgoing and talktive aupairs. Lucas is a six-year-old boy. He is really talktive, energetic and sometimes naughty. He can talk with you in English. He went to kindergarten in the US for two months this summer.

I am Lucas's mom and I am a teacher at an international high school and I work from 7am to 5pm. Lucas's father is a manager in a big company so he is very busy for most of the time. We also have a little boy Felix who's only two months old. We live with my mom and my husband's mom. They are very healthy and nice. They will take care of the two children and do the housework. You do not need to take care of the children. Your only job is reading or playing with Lucas after school.
